One thing you should know is that maggots don't always feed on an open wound. I know that for sure because my baby, Armani sniffed a fly larva into his nose...where it hatched and burrowed through his brain...exiting out his right eye socket. According to my research, the type of maggot that was in my puppy was from a Bot Fly and they called it a cuterebra. They burrow and feed off their host and after a certain amount of days need to exit to breathe.

I know it's gross...but, due to the brain damage it killed my baby boy. But, there are new medications out there that kill cuterebra and allow animals to live healthy lives. It just depends on how much damage has been done.

My heart breaks for you and the family. I pray she gets well soon.
