| ![]() It does sound like low sugar for me since the first post, i did not think of liver problems. Is the stool very very dry? Or moist and white? Some parasites can cause stool problems and not show in fecal exams, specially Gyardia. Do not be thinking that it can only happen to dirty places, i guess there are slightly different kinds of this nasty thing. I would deworm with "panacur-c" or "safeguard" for 9 days anyways, it will deworm and get rid of any gyardia or else. I have seen Gyardia cause white stools before, almost lost the puppy and did tons of fecal exams, by luck the last one did show the "thing" and this is what was prescribed that worked, by then my pocket was already broke with the vet bills. Anyways , this dewormer does not hurt and it is worthy to try i think. Also have you tought about neurological causes? If so you will only find out after a few more weeks, But it is very similar to my story .... i would insist on this dewormer and take it from there. If it does not hurt ... worthy to try. Good luck.

| ![]() Thank you for the suggestion and I will call the vet to see if they have the dewormer. I live in a very small town so have no stores up here. Gosh, you would think a vet could find the pests in the stool but anything is worth a try. This is soooo frustrating. I can check the baby and he will be falling all over the place and it seems about 5 or so minutes AFTER he eats, he is acting and walking better. It is not a seizure as he is very aware I am there and tries to get to me but falls all over the place in doing so. So upsetting. His stool is absolutely normal (sorry to be graphic), not dry, not runny. Exactly like his litter mates only whitish/tan. The vet suggested I feed him every 2 hours and since doing this his stool has changed from very white to whitish/tan. His urine is still extremely yellow colored. He does have a wonderful appetite. Keep the good thoughts coming and any suggestions are greatly appreciated. |

| ![]() You are very welcome!!! You can find the generic "safeguard" on any walmart, Also it is intriguing the fact that the litter mates are not showing any signs, but low immunity is what causes it to overgrow.... I saw the Nutrycal suggestion, it is the "quick fix" but does not solve the problem for the long run if it is indeed the hypoglycemia, the more you can get him stable with food the better it is as the secret is to balance the hormones specially insulin and nutrycal is a life saver, but it does not contribute to balancing insulin levels. Although it is worthy trying. What kind of food are you feeding him? Please let me know and how are the feedings progressing. Prayers, perseverance and hope... you will get trhough it and he will be the best !!!! You will see it !!!!

| ![]() OK, I called my vet and he do not sell dewormers. Go figure. They did say, however, they do not recommend deworming pups til they are at least 6 weeks old and especially if the pup is sick as the dewormer could cause loss of appetite, diarrehea etc. I checked the web sites for both Panacur and Safeguard and they more or less the same. The other problem is my baby is only 14.6 ounces and they suggest the pup should be at least 5 pounds. Does anyone deworm their pups at 5 weeks and less than one pound? If so what do you use? |

| ![]() Hy, You can safelly deworm them with "pyrantel" beginning at 2 weeks of age, and in fact you should have done it already with the litter and mom as well, every other week starting at 2 weeks old we give pyrantel. Ok, this only takes care of common worms and although it is pretty much protocol to deworm puppies and mom together anyways, it will not help you out with the gyardia, and the regular 3 days of Panacur also will not help you out with the gyardia , if that is the case and it is a possibility. In order to be effective against gyardia the trick is to give from 5 to 9 days (i give 9 days) consecutive at the same time every day. It will get rid of any gyardia plus any worms of tape worms that other dewormers like Pyrantel can't. How i know that? Well... years of breeding and experience, and i had a puppy with similar simptoms as i told you ... it went like soap opera until a fecal exam did show the nasty gyardia. . The recomended dose is at 1 gram per day and i have used that without any problems at all. your puppy is 14 ounces so he is almost 2 pounds at 5... weeks old, he is not a "teacup" sized ( not that i like the word but it serves the purpose) and is doing good on development i think. Would you mind telling me how big are the parents? If you to PM your number i can call you , i do not mind. Also is it your first litter? How long have you being breeding? Deworming is not going to cause loss of appetite or anything. But keep in mind that if it something neurological it is not going to help either and probably symptoms will progress and things will take a different direction. How is he doing today?

| ![]() I wanted to let you all know that my baby is still pretty sick but he is doing a lot better than yesterday. He is eating which he did not do yesterday. He is still wobbly but I think right now it is just a waiting game. I will continue to feed him every 2 hours and will keep my fingers crossed. Thank you all for your prayers. He is sure a little fighter. |

| ![]() I'm so sorry your little one is ill. It's frustrating not knowing why. Enjoy your little one, he seems to be gaining weight, that's a good sign. The vet will have the answers when he's old enough for bloodwork. Keep us posted when you know the answers... Blessings... ![]()
