| Oh God will it ever get better? Some of you have read my post about me running over my lab yesterday and now I just returned from an emergency visit with the vet because Cody, my male was peeing dark red blood and screaming. Well he has a bladder infection. he is on an antibiotic and the vet said if his pee doesn't clear up within 24-36 hours I need to bring him back down there for xrays and a sample. The poor baby is miserable! His girlfriend Gracie is in high heat and this was supposed to be her breeding cycle and he can't do anything. Your words of encouragment is helping me so much with the guilt of my lab, I need some more encouragment please to help me get through this hurdle with seeing my little man hurting.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh, gosh this is awful! Poor Cody! It sounds so painful. I'm sure it'll start to clear up quickly with the meds. Maybe give bottled water too to avoid reoccurrence? I'm so sorry for all that you're going through - I'm sending good thoughts your way. HUGS.

| I'm so sorry to read about all of this! Make sure the vet checks for stones/crystals...Some stones do not show up on x-rays and only show up on ultrasounds. Prayers!!

| update He was getting better! He was peeing yellow again Then my hubby called me at work and said that Cody was whimpering while peeing again and when he picked him up he had blood coming out again. My husband brought him down to work and I will be taking him back to the vet this afternoon. We are worried that he's trying to pass a stone.

| How is he doing? Make sure they *analyze* the stone, if that is in fact what is causing his problems.

| Well good news and somewhat bad news. Good news.... It is just a bladder infection. We did and x-ray and had a catheter put it and there was nothing blocking the urethra. They took some urine samples and sent them to the lab so I will get the results friday. The somewhat bad news is that the bladder infections being made worse by an inflamed prostate. The inflamed prostate is from him being around two females in heat and working himself up into a frenzy but not being able to do anything. Bella was in heat first and she's too young and too little for him, so he was after her until I sent her to my SIL and then the infection just when Gracie was hot and he was supposed to breed with her and since I wouldn't let him near her I have my SIL stud here for Gracie. Cody is in such a frenzy that the prostate became inflamed and made the bladder worse, so Gracie is going to my SIL until she is done. So I have a painkiller to give Cody tomorrow if he needs it. But anyway.... we did the catheter ( I say we 'cause my vet is awesome and I am always allowed to help) he flushed the bladder and injected a strong antibiotic directly in the catheter so if he isn't better by thursday then we will have to scope him and look to see what the problem is. I appologize for going all over the place with this, I've been getting about 3 hours of sleep at night.

| well I took him in this morning again. We are still waiting on the test results from the urine to come back. The vet and I are leaning more towards prostitis. His prostate is very swollen. He is put on additional antibiotic zeniquin plus the amox and he is on a pain killer dexamethasone inj . Both of my girls are also out of the picture now, they are with my SIL. So with no heat smells and frustrations, and the additional meds hopefully he can just relax and heal and get better.
