Donating YT 1000 Club Member | My Yorkie Has Been Sick (LONG) She started throwing up on Sunday afternoon, I took her to the vet yesterday and today. She is better today, they think it may be from stress and heat. She went to a sitter on Saturday while we went to a wedding about an hour and a half from our home. They opened the door to carry in some things from their car and she bolted out and ran as fast as she could for quite a ways. She was caught by some strangers who took her to the vet who was closed. Our son met them there and took her home till we could pick her up later that evening. She has separation anxiety, and hates being away from me. We can only assume she was trying to run home or to me when she bolted out the door. I am so thankful she didn't get hit by a car. I pray she is back to her old self soon. Her temp was lower today and her blood work looked good except one thing. The Vet said not to panic it's probably because she was throwing up. She's never bolted out the door at our house so it never crossed my mind to warn them she might do that. One thing everyone said who was trying to catch her was "I've never seen a dog run so fast in my life!" There were four people trying to catch her. She was described by our son as a "brown cruise missile". His girlfriend said the dog has some great evasive football moves. I had a new tag made for her collar yesterday, it has our home and two cell phone numbers on it as well as her name, our last name, city and state on it. She also wears a rabie tag but the vet is not in the same town as we live. The other tag has that info plus two cell phone numbers for our kids for when we are out of town. I will just switch tags when we are out of town. There wasn't anything we could do from where we were when we got the call Saturday, but both our kids were in town however. We were literally 5 miles from the church when we got the phone call saying what was going on. The tag she was wearing, her rabie tag and honest/caring strangers are what got her home to us. Thank God! |

| Oh my heavens. What a scare she must have given you and the people that were watching her for you. Yes, these little ones can run like a grey hound. I am so happy for both of you that she is going to be ok. Poor little one. It's so sad you can't explain the situation to them. Some don't care where they are and other's get panicky when they can't see Mommy. Guess your home bound for awhile. |

| How scary! So glad she was returned safely. It does sound like stress. I would say spend as much time loving on her as possible, she must be afraid that you are going to leave again. Poor dear - hope she feels better soon

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | There will come times I do have to leave, and now I'm paranoid to even take her to the groomer for fear she will try to bolt out of there when I leave. |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | One of the people got my cell number from the vet's office and left a mesg on it. I need to find it and call the people back to say thank you. I've been so busy and worried about her I haven't taken the time yet. They didn't have to help, they could have just let the dog run. |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | By the time it was over and we got to the wedding I was sick to my stomach and trying not to cry. She had been found and our son had her but I was just a wreck. She is much better today so far. Thanks! |

| OMG!! How scary! I'm glad she's back home with you!! This could've been a disaster! This sounds like some serious separation anxiety!! Its a caution for all of us to have some type of leash/harness on them before opening the door! Some dogs have been seriously hurt this way in the past...

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | She has had two antibiotic shots, lots of rest and small frequent amounts of water. She is wanting water now which is good. I have antibiotic pills to give her for the next few days. The Dr said not to feed her yesterday or today, just give water and antibiotics. She's hungry, so I slipped her a couple tiny bland doggie animal crackers and two tablespoons of crunchies. So far she's keeping it down. |

| Yes, these little Yorkies can stress out easily and that leads to vomiting and or diarrhea. I'm glad she's back home with you and it sounds like she's on the mend. |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Lot's of vomiting but no diarrhea. I felt so bad for the poor thing, they are so little. I've been sick with worry, just like when my kids got sick when they were little. |

| I hope your little one feels better .Almost losing her, is scary. Make sure she is drinking water. I would worry about dehydration from all the vomiting.
