| Surgeon called a few hours ago and said he did great and was just waking up, but everything went well. We will pick him up some time tomorrow afternoon. What he has is known as Legg-Perthes. |

| Jay is going great, sleeping now. He ate a bunch and took a big pee (in the middle of the floor). He was hopping around a bit and hopefully he'll be putting down his foot a bit more in the coming days. First week we were told to keep it easy on him, but after that he can do what he likes. Attached is picture of the stitches. Looks a bit nasty. |

| Glad the surgery appears to be successful and that he is getting around, eatting, and peepeeing even if it is in the middle of the floor. Take what we can get, aye?

| So glad he's doing well and eating You might want to keep him crated to cut down on his activity.

| My Lulu had the same surgery 2 years ago and let me tell you I was beside myself. The recovery time is quick. The only thing that the vet stressed was to make her walk as much as possible. So I would take her on walks every evening. We would start out just down the street, then add another block and so on. At first she would only walk on three legs (it was so sad and it broke my heart), but after about 2 weeks she started with all fours. To this day you would never know unless she is walking fast on a grassy surface then she will hold her leg up. Wish you lots of luck and prayers Lulu, Bosley Beamer, & Baby Zoey's mommy |

| Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | How is Jay doing today? FHO surgery is an easier recovery then a knee surgery. For the first week walks should be limited but after that exercise is encouraged. Nothing crazy tho. walking is excellent. you can also start doing passive range of motion exercises by flexing and extending all the joints in the leg (hip, knee, ankle) just to keep things moving.

| Jay is using his foot a bit when walking slowly. My only concern now is that below the knee the leg feels a bit cold. I saw someone else on here say that may be because there is a blood clot. Above the knee up to the staples it feels pretty normal. Is this normal? Thanks. |

![]() Have you called the vet about the cold leg? I hope it's not a clot.

| With some messaging and gentle moving it warmed right back up. No discoloration and he can still feel if his toes are pinched, I think I'm just being a bit paranoid. |

| Brea had the same surgery. Yes, they do want them up and walking right away. The recovery time isn't all that long. Brea still will raise that leg when she wants to run. She uses it all the time otherwise. Hope your guy heals quickly. |
