My Lulu had the same surgery 2 years ago and let me tell you I was beside myself. The recovery time is quick. The only thing that the vet stressed was to make her walk as much as possible. So I would take her on walks every evening. We would start out just down the street, then add another block and so on. At first she would only walk on three legs (it was so sad and it broke my heart), but after about 2 weeks she started with all fours.
To this day you would never know unless she is walking fast on a grassy surface then she will hold her leg up.
