![]() I am going to weigh her in again tonight. If not up I will start feeding her 3 x's a day. I am giving the drops every 8-9 hours. I took her of breathing treatments but that didn't work well. I am going to give her just one per day and see if that helps her. She was a total turkey today for her 2 week pictures! That made me very happy to see her pitch a fit. She did not want me messing with her

| Today's update. You are all so kind in your reply's and in your prayers for my little girl. She is more active today and seems to be doing pretty well. Her momma wants to clean her rear non stop and I wonder if she is having trouble going. Just another thing to watch! This little one is keeping me on my toes ![]() Our vet wants her to have her first worming and I don't want to give it to her. Any suggestions? I'm just afraid to do anything to her that could upset her system. I am really hopeful she will be alright. Her breathing is almost normal and slower than it has been Last edited by LittlePaws; 07-14-2008 at 01:30 PM. Reason: spelling |

| My vet says you should not worm them unless you know they have worms. She seems awful young to be worming. I would question why your vet would want to worm her when she does not even know she has worms or has she check a stool sample? I am really glad to hear she is doing better. |

I think the vet is excessive, she does a FIVE day course at 2 weeks- 4 weeks and 6 weeks with a 3 day course at 12 weeks.

| That does sound like it's excessive. I don't start mine until 6 weeks and then every 2 weeks until 12 weeks. I use Nemex-2. You only need to give 1 dose per treatment. This has worked fine for me and all my babies test clear on their fecal. I don't think I would give anything extra (such as a de-wormer) to such a young pup unless it was absolutely necessary. IMO, preventatives and vaccines should only be given to healthy dogs. Yours is very young and still struggling....is there some specific worm she is trying to clear from your baby? It would seem like unless there's a specific diagnosis that giving your baby a de-wormer might only impede her recovery....again, this is just my opinion based on your posts. Best of luck to you and your little one. |

| I wouldn't worm unless she tested positive. She really doesn't need that added on top of everything else. I keep following your story. You are doing GREAT!

| I have just read all your posts.. wow.. I am sure feeling for you, and your pain.. I had a litter 8 weeks ago.. lost two to fading puppy with no help from my vets.. grrrr Then lost another at 20 days.. weight was good.. was fine at 2 am and gone at 8 a.m.. had a post mortem done.. and they found nothing that they could say caused his death...I know now I will know how to subq fluids into a fading puppy.my vet had to nerve to say.. oh we can teach you.. well where were you when I wanted fluids given and you said not.. now you want to teach me.. I had a 2 oz girl two years ago..much much smaller then this time.. same vet.. gave fluids twice and I tube fed for two weeks night and day every two hours.. we still have gracie and she is over two years old.. I am so very interested in your girl and you have had such great support.. I personally want to thank those breeders for being so helpful and so kind..I have one little girl that is 8 weeks today from that litter and I have worried and have watched her so much with worry this time.. I know how hard it is.. I am sending lots of prayers and good thoughts to you for this little baby.. and pray she will survive and gain some weight.. hugs to you at the same time..looking forward to updates.. anne |

| My baby is 13 oz this morning! She is doing so well compared to how she was. I will keep watching and keep up with the 1x per day treatment and vit drops until 3 weeks old. I will try at that point to take her off of everything. Mama is just fine too, she wants so much to be away from her baby. I think it would be ok to let Gracie stay with me a little more and leave baby with her blanket and heating pad. I am excited again. I really think she is going to be alright. |

| That's so good to hear!! Sounds like your baby is definitely on the right track. I'm sure Mom does need a break and it should be o.k., my Pearl is starting to spend more time away from hers. You've been doing great with her...now how about those pictures you were going to re-size?? |

I also had a tiny girl she was 1.9 oz but man she was a fighter. I fed her every two hours also. I have to say I got very attached. All of my other puppies had sold but her... I just couldn't do it. I was so close to her. I had to see her again. When she turned 13 weeks old My best friend drove 6 hours to come get her. I get tex Messages every other day with pictures of her and her brother ( a yorkie pom) and my name is Auntie Does everyone get this attached?
