| 9 week old Chloe is sick Yesterday she started throwing up yellow liquid (bile I think) she would heave on and off for about 15 minutes and then go to sleep and would wake up happy as could be. I thought it was just a one time thing, and when she woke up happy and hungry...I thought everything was ok. She has been having loose stools for the past week, but I thought that was due to changing foods and eating canned food. Yesterday they turned to diarehha, and were very yellowish. Then last night about 1 am it happened again, and then again around 3 this morning. Today she got up and ate all of her food and drank a lot of water. I called the vet but they can't get us in until 1:15...I am so worried about her. She only weighed 2lbs to start with...and now she feels a lot lighter. Anything you can suggest until we can get to the vet today? I am so worried... |

| I would go and sit at the Vets office and see if they can sqeeze you in. The problem is may already be dehydrated and they can go down hill very, very fast when they are that little and that young |

| A pup who has had loose stools for a week would be an emergency in my opinion. Have you given Nutrical? Are her gums pink? It could be the food but it could also be something a lot more serious. Since the appt. is only two hours away it is hard to say what you should do but it would not be wrong to take her to an emergency vet.

| I have been giving her Nutri-stat. Is that the same thing as Nutri cal? Her gums are pink. Not bright pink, but they are pink. I have been feeding her Nutro Max Puppy chicken, lamb and rice...before that she was eating canidae, but the pieces seem to be too big for her. That is why I switched her to the Nutro. |

| They are probably the same...not sure. Please get her off of Nutro. There have been reports of vomiting, bloody diarrhea and even death in association with Nutro. I'm not exactly sure if the Max was involved. I'd give her boiled white meat chicken with no seasonings or fat and white rice and then introduce a new food unless she is still eating a little bit of Canidae. If she is you could just go back to that.

| Okay I will stop the Nutro ASAP. I have some chicken breast boiling right now. Someone told me to give her canned pumpkin. Is that a good idea? |

| That would be fine as long as she doesn't start throwing it up.

| I pray Chloe will be okay. At only nine weeks old, she should still be with her mother. Loose stools for a week have probably dehydrated her at the very least. I hope nothing more serious is going on. The fact that she's big for nine weeks at two pounds is a plus, though. Please keep us posted. |

| Sorry I didn't check back in sooner, I wanted to keep a very close eye on her and give her lots of TLC. She is doing a lot better. The vet wasn't exactly sure what caused the vomiting and diarrhea, but he said that he isn't too worried about it being something long term/serious because she is eating, drinking and playing. He gave her a shot for nausea, and some type of a liver pill to stop the diarrhea ...and a de-wormer to give her once she is feeling better. Since we have gotten back from the vets she has not vomited, and the diarrhea is getting better. I am keeping her on the boiled chicken and rice until she is ready to go back on canidae. I crushed the canidae into smaller pieces, hopefully that will help her. Thank you sooooo much for all the suggestions, thoughts and prayers. I would have been a nervous wreck without all your support. |
