There really isn't a lot you can do about him. I know someone tried to warn you not to purchase from that breeder, and you thought he seemed ok. The breeder could always say the puppy got Parvo, when he was with you. YTCA doesn't recommend that breeders release puppies until a minimum age of 12 weeks, and even though some states will allow breeders to release puppies before this age, it's a definite "tip off" that that's a poor breeder. I always recommend that people find the best breeders possible, and the extra money is well worth it in terms of saving you lots of heartache. Cheap puppies are no bargain, end up costing you more in the long run, and the lousy breeder gets his profit and continues his poor breeding practices. I hope this experience makes you become an advocate for good breeding. I had to learn the hard way too. Hope your baby continues to improve, but remember he should really be protected until he has all his shots, no parks, walks, trips to pet stores or anything where he would come into contact with another dogs germs.

| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | more like days - you already posted when you got her and no you didn't get her right to the vet ....but you did take her after alot of encouragement from us. Are you sure she had parvo ? A 7-8 week old puppy couldn't recover this fast... maybe the 2 parasites you talked about her having when you got her were making her so sick and it wasn't parvo after all ??? Either way - I'm glad to hear she's feeling better. |

ummm NO it might not of been 6-10 hours but it certainly was NOT 6-10 days. i got her on a saturday about 4 pm. i brought her to the vet that monday 11am. and thats when she was just really blah. i brought in a stool sample because i figured they could maybe use it.. they took the sample and found two different parasites. they didnt think she had parvo because they figured the parasites what were causing her to have diahhrea... it makes sense, its not a far jump. the next day she had not improved even after her meds... so we brought her back tuesday (the next day) and THATS when she was diagnosed with parvo and givin meds and fluids. she came back home with us that day.. im positive the TWO vets i brought her to have diagnosed her correctly. i appreciate all of the YT'ers that have helped me and given me encouragement and prayers.. from the bottom of my heart. but i DONT appreciate the people who tell ME the events that happened to ME and my Lexi. dont tell me i didnt bring her right to the vet... its not like i knew she was sick with parvo the day i got her... she didnt have syptoms when i got her... she had them the next day (diahhrea). i figured it was because of the adjustment she had to make plus the food she had to eat because the breeder wouldnt tell me what food she was on... moving from outside to inside. but dont assume that because i have less posts than you.. that im young, or because i live in louisiana, that im a complete idiot. | |

| Senior Yorkie Talker | lexis doing really good.. she absolutely LOVES the perscription AD food they gave us. which is very good for the both of us haha.. she eats like theres no tomorrow. and she likes to pick on my ferret, buddha. shell run up behind him and pull his tail. buddha just turns around and chases her, duking (its a noise they make when their excited). its fun watchin them chase each other up and down the hall . shes picking up his bad habits too... this morning she saw buddha in the closet chewing on scotts tennis shoes.. so lexi went over there, plopped down and took a bite out the other shoe. it was like she was copycatting everything he did hahabut that AD food sure is putting the pounds --ounces -- on lexi! which i like alot.. she was too small for me. she has to be on my lap or sitting on my shoulder at ALL times.. or shell whine. i joke and say i bought a parrot haha. but when they say potty training a yorkie is difficult, they aint lieing! ![]() ill put her on her peepee pad and shell walk just off the pad and pee then shell look at me like I DID IT! haha i cant help but giggle.but lexi is doing just fine.. still feeding every three to four hours.. with food ill give her about .1cc pedialyte. she doesnt seem to understand how to drink out her bowl. then morning and night shell get her meds. my mom thinks i got her to "practice" for the future ... if you know what i mean Last edited by allisongaines; 06-25-2008 at 12:10 PM. |
