| Tummy Virus? PLEASE HELP!! Hi all - I really need your help! This is kinda embarassaing - but here goes. This morning I woke up with really severe inestinal pain and vomiting and diarrhea. Now, a few hours later, my dog is having the same thing!! Is it possible to share a virus like this with a dog? He hasn't eaten anything out of the ordinary and I am sick too, but I just want my baby boy to feel better. The only thing I can think is that we are very connected to one another and sometimes he gets stomach upset when I am stressed...But right now, I just have a stomach flu, I think! What can I do to help his tummy stop gurgling??

| aww how crappy.. i feel for you.. i have a sinus infection and Layla has an eye infection. As far as i know humans and dogs do not share the same illnesses. I would give him some PURE pumpkin and some pro biotic yogurt. Hope you both feel better soon! |

| I am just wondering if the both of you ate the same thing? If that is the case then, YES you could both have the same thing, from eating the wrong food.

| My vet had a poster on the wall of her room talking about dogs and humans passing illness to each other and how to prevent that. You may want to call your vet just to find out if its possible. Im sorry you both feel crappy! I hope you feel better soon

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Aw, no! You poor creatures. There is some controversy around this subject - and I wish I could find the links. But, the thing is - a bug is a bug is a bug. Salmonella is salmonella. Staph is staph. E.coli is e.coli. There ARE bugs that morph, of course, and are then only injurious to certain hosts - but there ARE some that are common. So, yes - there could be something that you both could have right now - what it might be is so hard to say. Sounds like some kind of stomach bug or a bit of food poisoning.

| We did both eat the same meat last night....ugh. I have a bad feeling about it...In my tummy! Louis is doing much better, though. I am going to the doc tomorrow. Louis' vet says since his diarrhea stopped & he only puked once to watch him tonight and bring him in tomorrow if he still seems sick. I love my vet, he gave me his home phone # in case Louis needs him! Either way, I decided he is going in for a CBC to make sure he is ok and we are going to do a fecal float to make sure he doesn't have parasites. Its pretty funny how I am so much more worried about my dog then I am myself. He is just my soulpup and I don't think I could survive it if something happened to him!

| It sounds more like a mild case of food poisoning than a stomach virus to me. I am so glad that Louis is feeling better -- I hope you are feeling better soon, too. Try some of that yogurt/probiotic - it will help you out too. Sending healing hugs to both of you |
