| VERY WORRIED! mucus in stool and drontal. My pup has had fleas for about a week or so and the vet thinks she has tapeworms. I took in a sample of this slimy thing that I found on her belly and that's what she thinks it was... a tapeworm segment. She prescribed Drontal for the prevention/treatment of any worms Peanut might have. I gave it to her this afternoon and tonight, about 15 minutes ago, she had diarrhea with mucus towards the end. It smelled really bad. Any idea if this is from the Drontal? I didn't see any worms... could it be that she doesn't actually have them? The vet didn't do a stool test and I'm nervous!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Did they do a stool sample? I don't know if the medicine would casue her problems but would check with the vet tomorrow. Hope she feels better soon.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Dewormers *can* cause icky weird poos, so hang in there - it's probably just her system purging the worms. If he saw an actual tapeworm, she likely didn't think it was necessary to do a fecal, though many vets might've done one just to make sure nothing else was going on. Keep an eye on her, and keep her bottom clean/dry. Call vet in a.m. if she is still having issues, never hurts to call.
