is mucus normal? My 5 month old woke up yesterday morning and threw up a small amount of yellow bile. I immediately fed her and gave her pedialyte because she is just over 2 lbs. She had a little bit of loose stools, but what made them loose was some mucus that was in them. This was new. Later she had more mucusy stool, but not diareah. She feels fine, is active, eating and her gums look pink. This morning her stools have a little bit of mucus, also. She is not due for her 3rd series of shots until next week - is this mucus in her stools something I need to go ahead and take her in for, or can it wait until next week (unless her symptoms worsen). What can be the cause of this? She is acting perfectly normal. Thanks!

It could be that she ate something that has irritated her intestinal lining or it could be an indication of coccidia or giardia. If it continues I would recommend you get her stool checked by a vet.

Thanks! She is a real scavenger - eating everything except what she is supposed to. I have to watch her outside constantly because she loves to pick in the dirt and loves to grind her teeth on the bricks, etc....I did see a very small piece of carpet in her stool that she had managed to pull up. I hope that maybe that was it. If there is lint on the floor, she will find it! I will continue to watch her today, and if anything changes I will definitely take her in. I appreciate your response. I am concerned about the coccidia and giardia because even on the leash, she does stick her nose in and licks at the dirt when we are outside.....
