| My Emmie is acting strange, please help About a week now, my 3 year old yorkie has been throwing up periodically, mostly at night. ( she sleeps with us) The vomit started out milky with some food in it, now it is more green/brown. She is eatting, drinking and doing all of her duties. She is playful still, but gets disinterrested quickly. The one thing that bothers me, is that about 2-3 weeks ago, we experienced an earthquake (we live in Central Il, where we rarely get an earthquake) and every since then we have had tremmors, less of them now. And it seemed that right around that time is when Emmie became very attached to me. What I mean by that, is she follows me everywhere now, even the bathroom and wants me to hold her or for her to be in my lap. She seems so insecure. That is NOT like my baby. She is independent. She would do her think during the day and maybe or maybe not want to be in my lap or held. Then at bedtime, she always got snuggly then. So any suggestions? Oh! I am careful to not give her very much table food. I usually only give her cheese, chicken, sweet potato or regular potato. and bread and egg. I do not give her pork or red meat. She may eat some off the floor at times though. I have not given her anything from the table for 3 days now and she is still throwing up. Need your comments. Thanks in advance |

| So sorry your baby isn't feeling well. I wish I could offer you some advice....maybe you could call your vet and see what they think? Or maybe search on the forums here for vomitting. Hope your baby is better soon.

| Be nice if you could talk to other Yorkie owners in your area. They might have some insight on how earthquakes affect Yorkies. About the vomiting---that's usually not something you mess around with. Since it's been a few days I would schedule a vet visit. IMO.

| Emmie is better!! Thanks to all of your replies and advice. It is always comforting to get some feedback when you feel helpless. I took Emmie to the vet 3 days ago, and had him to examine her and do some blood work. They came back all good! The vet sent me home with some medice to help her to stop throwing up. The only thing that makes any sense is that she ate something like, possibly chocolate off of the floor, that made her sick. I keep a very clean house, but I do have a pre teen and a teen in the house and they are not always careful. So we had a practical lesson on why we have to keep things cleaned up. For the last two days, Emmie has been her old self. Sweet, lovable and playful... and eating again and doing her "duties" again. I am just truly grateful that it is not her liver or pancrease or anything else for that matter. She is my baby and I will be so lost with out her. As for the clingyness, that hasn't changed. But I don't mind. It really has mad her more precious..I would be upset if she stressed out or freaked out everytime we left. But she doesn't. So I guess you could say, the earthquake humbled my baby just a bit. guess she figured out that she is not as big as she thought!!lol |
