| ![]() Yes, I did have a very smart, spoiled, & tricky baby in my Gizmo. He was sick alot when he was a puppy. For the first year of his life he was constantly pampered, petted, played with and spoiled. I took him everywhere with me, took him to work with me every day and worked while he layed either in my lap or next to me in his little warm bed. When he was about 14 month old I switched jobs and could not take him with me each day, but I did have the flexability of working part time. I began leaving Gizmo home alone in his (very large) cage while I was gone for aprox 5-6 hours a day. I felt he would be okay since it had been several months since he had an episode. He would look so sad when I put him in the cage, then one day he had been playing and being normal all morning until it came time to go in the cage. I picked him up and he was shaking. I tried to love him and calm him down, but it only got worse. He began to cough like he was trying to throw up, and would lose his breath. I was terrified because I had never seen this before. I took him out side and sat with him. He seemed to calm down some. After that I decided to stay home for the day with him. When he seen that mommy was not leaving it was back to normal Gizmo. From that day forward if he did not want me to leave him he would start the shaking and coughing. It took me awhile and a few trips to the vet to figure this out. He also wouldnt go potty if I was not home, or refused to go at the vets office. He would not eat if I was not here. He really wouldnt do anything unless I was here. He stayed on the arm of the couch with his little ears raised waiting for me to come home. When he got so sick in November it was hard to tell if it was really sickness or Gizmo being Gizmo. I can believe every word you said about your baby. They are very smart, and a few are smarter than most. Good luck with your baby. I hope he contuniues to improve. |

| ![]() Hi Vicki, you poor thing! I know how worried you are. Geeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.. I can't help but think maybe he had an allergic reaction to the meds they gave him for the worming. But - gosh I just don't know anymore. I almost was going to tell you that I was getting a little unsure of Texas A & M while they were trying to figure this out??? But as you know you have to be careful on here and sometimes hold back what you are thinking for the sake of ticking someone off. But at this point- Darn it!! I am just as frustrated as you are! I would want a second opinion TOOOO!!! I don't know how far of a drive Dr Bronstad would be for you but hey- he charges 120.00 for 1 visit. maybe he could have the magic answer for you. I am just suggesting it that's all. I mean he has had 30 + years in the field and AS A SPECIALIST. And let me also add that- it's not that he doesn't know what's going on with our little Samie??- It's because we have not done any testing with her at the moment- and as you know sometimes you cannot just know what the problem may be by "just looking" at the dog. Heck for that matter! A & M have run several tests and they don't have a clue as to what is going on???? In the meantime poor Bleu is suffering i'm sure when he has these mini episodes and God knows if they can progress into something life threating again. ???????? I know you are scared and a nervous wreck and first let me also say that you are not CRAZY OR OCD or none of that nonsense! You WANT BEST FOR YOU DOG AND YOU ARE FRUSTRATED!!! AND I DON'T BLAME YOU! And the FACT that you should have to IGNORE Bleu because he is playing you??????????????????????? WHAT ?!?!?!?!!? That is CRAP! I'm sorry. I don't buy it. You couldn't WAIT for Bleu to come home to you, and it was GOSH........so painful him being gone for so many days at A&M and now that he is home you are going to ingore him?????????? No way- That is not the answer. Bleu doesn't deserve that and Vicki neither do you. I know that you can't wait to coddle him and love him and be there for him. Yes- these dogs are super crazy smart!!!!! But they DO NOT make them selves suffer to get attention. NOPE! not one bit! Maybe chew on your favorite pair of shoes or pee somewhere. OR.....they have ways of doing this little act when they stare at you and bark starting off soft and then getting really loud until you give in. They learn ways of how to get your attention- but to cough like that? NOPE! DON'T THINK SO! I am sorry to sound as if I am yelling but enough is enough already. I was FLOORED when I read your email and Yeah I am MAD too. You have dealt with enough and spent so much money and you have NO ANSWERS!!! And to have to ignore Bleu bc he is trying to get your attention is absurd! I say if you can swing it take a trip to see Dr Brostad. Man I wish he was closer to you!!! maybe one of the other locations in Dallas he might work out of. They are open here at the Plano location mon-thurs 8-5 - and he may only be work out of the Plano hospital. I do know that Sarah- his Vet assistant works at the Dallas location so maybe he does as well. My heart just aches for you Vicki because I know how exhausted and worried you are. I can feel it. And i don't like it at all. Please don't ever beat yourself up for the way you are questioning things and the way you are feeling. You just stop talking that kind of nonsense right now!!! You are the BEST!!!!!!!!!!! Mommy to your sweet Bleu!!! and you are very worried because SOO.....much is going on in your mind and you have been through wayyy too much these past few months. :-( I have an email address for "Sarah" that we deal with at the Specialist. Sarah is Dr Bronstads vet assistant. Maybe you can put together a summary and have her and Dr Bronstad review all ot the chain of events. Tests that have been run up to this point. Specify what type of surgery and all fo Bleu's details. Then you could email it to her and see if they have ever dealt with this type of situation or IF--- they feel they could help you. Tell them you are sending it to see if they could maybe help. It would be wayyy too much to go over in one office visit I will tell you that ya know. I don't have her email here at the house but you can bet that I will be sending it to you on Monday. I KNOW that if you sent her the detailed email they would be in touch with you. It's much easier than trying to get someone to listen to you on the phone and explain what the past several months have been like. Like I said- it can't hurt and I hope you will put something together in the mean time until I get you the email address Monday. Hang in there and in the mean time go and give sweet kisses to Bleu for me too. ANd you love on him always!! These dogs need attention and please don't sacrifice your needs either. You are not going to like ingoring him one bit! You love on him. :-) |

| ![]() Glad to know that Bleu's only issue may be that he is co-dependent!! Maybe you can take him to a doggie therapist ![]() ![]() See it all comes back to Mom -- everyone blames their life issues on their mom! Bleu will tell the therapist if my mom hadn't spoiled me and loved me so much I wouldn't be so dependent on her now ![]() Vicki, that boy is just addicted to you!! I hope you don't mind me joking about this ![]()

It breaks my heart that anyone, after all you have been thru, would actually tell you to ignore that baby. I pray you are givien just the right wording in your email to this other dogtor that something might ring true to him for Bleu. Best of luck my friend. ~Denise | |

| ![]() Do you have any videos of him doing this coughing? In the meantime if you do not. Try to get one. I kept the camera out and in sight on my living room table so that when Samie had an attack I recorded it and I was ready. Be specific in your summary. Maybe like a timeline or something from day one and his accident. and afterwards. It will be a lot of info but he will need everything. Hugs !!!!!!!!!! xoxoxoxoxoxox hang in there. |

| ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I do not believe dogs hack for attention. They shake when they don't want to be alone and urinate when they are upset but hacking? Yorkies are smart but that smart I do not think so... I am not saying it's impossible but I'd want to hear it from a vet who is very experienced and not A&M (because they are already giving up). Have you thought about just going to Colorado State and see what they say? Or having another vet consult over the phone with them? If they don't have an answer (which is very possible), I don't think anyone will. Because the hacking started with tonsilitis, he really didn't feel good. He wasn't messing around then, so why would he be now?
