Yes, I did have a very smart, spoiled, & tricky baby in my Gizmo. He was sick alot when he was a puppy. For the first year of his life he was constantly pampered, petted, played with and spoiled. I took him everywhere with me, took him to work with me every day and worked while he layed either in my lap or next to me in his little warm bed. When he was about 14 month old I switched jobs and could not take him with me each day, but I did have the flexability of working part time. I began leaving Gizmo home alone in his (very large) cage while I was gone for aprox 5-6 hours a day. I felt he would be okay since it had been several months since he had an episode. He would look so sad when I put him in the cage, then one day he had been playing and being normal all morning until it came time to go in the cage. I picked him up and he was shaking. I tried to love him and calm him down, but it only got worse. He began to cough like he was trying to throw up, and would lose his breath. I was terrified because I had never seen this before. I took him out side and sat with him. He seemed to calm down some. After that I decided to stay home for the day with him. When he seen that mommy was not leaving it was back to normal Gizmo. From that day forward if he did not want me to leave him he would start the shaking and coughing. It took me awhile and a few trips to the vet to figure this out. He also wouldnt go potty if I was not home, or refused to go at the vets office. He would not eat if I was not here. He really wouldnt do anything unless I was here. He stayed on the arm of the couch with his little ears raised waiting for me to come home. When he got so sick in November it was hard to tell if it was really sickness or Gizmo being Gizmo. I can believe every word you said about your baby. They are very smart, and a few are smarter than most. Good luck with your baby. I hope he contuniues to improve. |
