I hope~ All goes well w/ Tink...I live by Tink and Mommy, maybe we can come up w/ a Get Well Tink Package/Card and I can deliver it to them...Is anyone computer savy? I think most of you know I am not, and if so, maybe we can get a card going online for everyone to sign and then print out?!?!? Is this possible?!?! Again, if not forgive my stupidity, I am just happy to be near a YT'r and would like to help...Yvonne:) |
Sending healing thoughts and prayers for Tink!!! :getwell::hands:Susie, I will keep you and Tink both in my thoughts and prayers. I truly believe... Tink sweet baby girl, please know that I have faith...you are trying your hardest to be well again. I too have lit a candle...said a silent prayer and have shed tears of sadness ...but I have faith that your Tink will continue to improve with every minute of every day...until she is back home with you...playing with her beloved frog. |
Latest Update on Tink - and prayer OK here comes another VERY long post. I'm one for details so I apologize for all these short novels. We had a meeting this morning and I got both good and not-so-good information about Tink. The regular vet (internist - thanks Kellie) spoke first saying yesterday they began reducing Tink's sedatives so that she will wake up fully. He said she was showing signs of interest in her surroundings, was producing some urine, and her LFTs were somewhat less elevated than when she came to hospital. He said all of these are good signs but not anywhere near normal for her. She needs to have better liver and kidney function before he can say she is out of the woods. But he does think that with some careful management they can achieve a "suitable platform" I had to ask him what that meant. It's just his way of saying her body needs to be able to filter enough of the poisons out of her system to keep her pain free and functioning with some quality. Dr. Speak;) Then the neurologist spoke and said that in his opinion Tink will never be normal mentally, she won't be able to retain learned behaviors and will always have to relearn things. He thinks that she will probably eventually regain control of her bowels but probably not her bladder, at least not enough that she will be potty trained. Then he smiled at me as I was blubbering all over the table and said, "But all of us here have seen miracles and the power of prayer. We know you believe strongly in prayer and we encourage you to lean heavily on your faith." He went on to say that nothing is impossible with the brain and love and patience are mighty healers. He said he can't offer me any hope medically, but he believes that tink is a very strong little girl. He said she should have died before I ever brought her in. The first dose should have killed her. Then the physical therapist spoke. She said that Tink will need lots of work early to help her walk again and eat. She said little dogs learn these things very quickly and even with her challenges, she feels Tink will be able to manage well enough to get herself around. But time is of the essence and she needs to start working wit her as soon as she is completely awake. Probably tonight yet. Then they said to take my time deciding what I wanted to do but they needed to start working on a program for her as soon as possible. continued in next post.... |
So, they left the room and I'm sitting there crying and asking God to help me get over myself and have the strength to let her go 'cause I can't imagine how I'm going to help her and care for her properly when I have my own physical challenges and I'm getting ready for a surgery in a couple of weeks. The bad things just seemed so much heavier than the good things. I do not want her to be in pain. Then the vet who works there that I know, came into the room and sat beside me. He is the one who offered to take Tink when I'm in hospital. He said that his wife - who is Barb - Tink's tech at hospital want to take over Tink's care until I come home and am well enough to take care of her myself. So that was the answer from God that I needed. I was ready to let her go but not willingly. Now I can rest assured she will be in a loving home and have excellent care until I am well enough. Barb wants her clothes so she can keep her dressed.;) I can go visit whenever I want. So, I told the vet that I want to keep her and try whatever we need to do to help her. We will have to take it a day at a time because if her seizures become unmanageable then the story is finished. But if they get them undercontrol and her liver is working sufficiently then I think we have a chance. We're still going day to day, but now I feel much better about it and I think there is some hope for her. Thank you for reading this long long post but I needed to tell someone and get it all off my chest. All my friends are out of town this weekend. Of all times! But it's OK. We're manageing and things will be good. Please continue your prayers, we still need them. |
Oh I'm so sorry for what you and Tink are going through. Thank goodness that you have been put in touch with such knowledgeable doctors to help. Keeping you and Tink in our thoughts. |
Thinking of you and Tink. Hoping our get well wishes here in the UK reach Tink. Lesley & Tink (Tinkerbell) |
how very hard this must all be on you...i will keep you and your precious lil furbaby in my prayers...i am so very happy that you have such a loving, caring friend/vet who has offered to help you with tink...she will be in very good hands! Winston and I are sending you and Tink lots of ~hugs~ |
Susie, I cannot imagine what this must be like for you. It sounds like you have found the most wonderful vets. The fact that one of them has offered to care for your Tink while you get better seems like an answered prayer. I think, based on what you've told me previously, that the prognosis sounds amazing and that it is a testament to your faith and to Tink's strength. Potty issues can be dealt with...and everything neurological is a mystery to some extent. Our Bernie is proof of that. We will continue praying and, you know, I'm always available if you need to talk. Well, heck, that's not true, for 8 more weeks I'm only available evenings and weekends, :rolleyes:but after that...(and seriously, ANY evening or any time during the weekend) Please continue to keep us posted. Her dogster page says "the great and mighty Tink". I think that she is proving that to be quite true! Bernie's sending hugs and puppy kisses. Judy |
Oh I am so sorry what you and Tink are going through right now. I am glad things are working out and you have great vets helping you. Sending prayers for Tink and you! :hands: Hang in there and everything will work out. Sending hugs  |
Susie, hold true to your faith...miracles do happen. They have happened for Tink before and they will continue to happen, I really really do believe this. Now, in humans the liver has a miraculous way of healing itself...take away the toxins/poisons and the liver will heal and function properly. I have seen it happen. My hope is that this will hold true with dogs...and that Tink will improve...she will heal. Know that we all care very much for you and Tink both...YT prayers are awesome...God hears them...I will continue to wish, hope and pray that Tink will pull through this. Remember we care Susie, you and Tink are very special to many of us here...including me. Sending you a much needed hug...please keep the faith...you'll see. |
We will pray for Tink and you as you both recover. |
Susie, its so wonderful to hear that all the doctors are willing to do anything to help Tink get better. She will be in great hands while you are in the hospital. It sounds like this doctor friend and his wife will take excellent care of her and spoil her like crazy. its sweet barb asked for some of her clothes so she can keep tink dresses. Tink must look her best when going through new experiences and challenges. I wish i lived closer so i could help you out more. I'm always here for you tho in the virtual world. :) I'll be thinking about you and tink and hoping for the best as always :) |
stilll praying for you in Michigan! |
Thanks for the update. I will pray for a miracle because I know they happen. I al also praying for your health and continued strength in dealing with this. |
Susie - thanks for the update. Remember that miracles happen all the time. One of them did when your vet offered to care for Tink while you recuperate. As far as potty training goes, we can make Tink some cute little doggie diapers and you use disposable pads in them - no big deal!!!! So, we're continuing to send our prayers for Tink. She has been a miracle before and we're hoping she will be a miracle again. Hugs!! |
We are praying for you. You have a lot on your plate but God will help. I am so sorry. Much Love |
Sending Prayers and Hugs and Kisses to you and Tink . |
 Know that you are not crying alone... :getwellso Tink - keep on pulling and trying - you can do it. You're a strong littl girl and you have a mommy who really, really loves you. :ghug: Hugs to both of you. |
I am so sorry you and Tink are going through so much :( I\'ve been so busy with Vicki and Bleu Boy\'s situation the past few days that I haven\'t been keeping up with everyone else and I\'m sorry I just now really got to read all of this. I pray that Tink will defy the odds and get better. I can\'t imagine how hard this is for you. Hugs to you and Tink |
Susie -- Thank you so very much for the detailed update. It sounds like your prayers were answered when the Vet walked in the room and sat down beside you. My heart has happy flutters for you and Tink - that she will have professional care while you are recovering from your own surgery. I will continue to keep you and Tink in my heart and prayers - :ghug: |
I was so happy to hear an update about Tink. My thoughts and prayers are with that sweet little girl. It\'s great to hear about the caring people there too. What a blessing! She has so much Love surrounding her & prayers from far away places. Hoping you will take care of yourself too with your surgery coming up. I\'m praying for both you and Tink! |
Dearest Susie. Thank you for being able to post about sweet Tink and your feelings. Knowing Tink is cared for, you will be able to prepare for your surgery and recovery. Your prayer was answered Susie and this is one of the most difficult journeys for you and Tink. You have been given "hope" and we all are hopeful for Tinkerbelle. I just know her angels watch over her, and watch over you, Susie. Bless you, sweet woman, and bless precious Tink. Warmly, Deborah |
