Tink is really sick again. The vet adjusted her meds last week for her seizures and ever since, she has been moody and won't eat. She didn't want to drink either but I finally got some water down her Friday evening. So she hasn't eaten since Thursday! Last night she was horribly needy and just laid around when I wasn't holding her. Kellie helped me with a pepcid AC dose and Morkie recommended chicken broth which I whould have thot of on my own! DUH:confused: So this morning I took her to the vet and had to leave her there all day so he could watch her. I got her back at 7:00 after all his other clients were gone, so he could talk to me. So, now Tink is getting fluids subq. And the vet told me to put her food in the blender with some broth and give it to her in a syringe. I made her some food and fed her a little while ago. She barfed it right back up. So I added more broth and tried again. She seems to be keeping it down this time although she gagged and gagged. She got ulcers last time she was sick but they haven't been bothering her and we thought she was healing - no bleeding and no pain. But now they are all flared up again. I think it's from all the vimiting of bile that she has done the last few days. But I'm not a vet. The vet also said he doesn't know why she is having such an awful reaction to the increased meds dose. So he made me an appointment at the vet school for Wednesday. ARGH! I don't want to go through this again. I'm thinking very seriously of switching vets. I've been with him for a long time, but he doesn't keep up with the current treatments and he never seems to know what to do with the little ones. He has changed his practice the last few years and is treating cats way more than dogs. I have a hard time getting in unless I tell them "I've been coming here for 20 years...blah blah blah.":thumbdown Right now she is laying in her sling around my neck and shoulder and making little noises! I'm so upset for her. I have to get her better fast! I'm having surgery in 3 weeks and I won't be home for 3 weeks! Don't worry a friend is staying with her. But this is not good!:cry: |
:( Are you going to the vet school in Madison? they are excellent. I hope they can help figure out what's going on with Tink. They probably have a neuro department that can help with her seizures and hopefully an internist can help with the ulcers. They may want to do an endoscopy to check out her esophagus. Whatever they do, i just hope Tink starts feeling better soon. that poor little baby. please doesn't hesitate to ask if you need something. I'll be there for you two. |
I'm so sorry that Tink is not well. I pray for her often. Prayers for her tonight and for you. Hugs. |

I'll talk to them when I take her in and see who they can recommend. Not the ortho vet tho. Tink was whacko over him after her surgery. We don't want anymore limbs operated on! |
I'm sorry she's so sick again, I hope she gets better soon. I'll keep her in my prayers. |
hoping for a quick recovery sending good thoughts and prayers for Tink. I know this can be stressful. My thoughts are with you as well. Lots of love being sent. hugs for: {{{{{{{{{Tink and mommy}}}}}}}} Janie and Freeway |
I hope she gets better soon. I just posted this on someone else's thread, but the thoughts are the same for Tink. Did the vet check for pancreatitis? Monday just had a horrid week with that. She was on IV fluid infusion for 2 days in the hospital. I was so scared. is she pooping okay? No diarrhea? She can dehydrate if she has diarrhea and vomiting. I went the chicken/rice route until she turned her head away. Gave Pedialyte, meds prescribed were Reglan, Amforal, and Cerenia. Now she is on Hills prescription z/d canned and dry. and an antibiotic was prescribed because she is showing signs of IBS. I know what you are going through. I hope she gets better soon. I'll keep her in my prayers. This can be so scary. |
Tink~ I hope you feel better real soon! |
Best thoughts and vibes headed your way for the both of you.:):aimeeyork |
I am so very sorry that Tink is sick again. I will keep the both of you in my thoughts and prayers. |
Oh my gosh! Okay - I'd recommend you go to the store and get some canned, sliced white potatoes. Micro them with bit of butter - mash them up. Give her just the potatoes. Plain white potatoes are great to give bc they are appetizing, they absorb nauseous juices, they soothe the tummy, and they are immediately absorbed as energy bc they are a simple carb. They be can *very* helpful at times like these. Especially on empty, sensitive tummies - for dogs who don't want to eat, bc basically they're so hungry! Don't worry about protein until you get some energy/kcal in her body. You can also use fresh potatoes, of course - but this is just the fastest course. Please keep me posted! :) |
Prayers for you both! |
Poor Tink and poor YOU! Here's hoping that today is a much better day for you both. BIG hugs and many prayers on the way.:) |

What is Tink's diagnosis (why does she have seizures)? How did the vet come to this conclusion? What tests were run when she was first diagnosed? Could you list all of her symptoms? At what age did the seizures start? |
Sending warm thoughts and prayers for you and Tink. Hugs from me and Lucy. |
Oh Tink!! We sure hope you bounce back & feel lots better real soon...keep us posted! Prayers from Kay & Jaxon:nursing: |

Right now she is at hospital. I took her in last night because she kept crying. I called at 11:00 pm and they said to bring her right then. She is lethargic, little color in her gums, tongue is sticky, panting alot, crying, won't eat or drink(although swallows if I drop water from a syringe in her mouth). petit mal clusters - about 3 per hr. Beginning to drag her butt a tad. Very soft stools - half of the volume is blood tinged mucous. Vomiting bile - no food to speak of for most of three days. Maybe 1/3 cup of chicken & potatoes blended. She is really bad. And my heart is just sick. She doesn't even want her frog. |
