Help needed please

Thank you all so much for the quick responses. Honestly, I don't know what I would have done without my YT friends the past two days. I will send Hubby off to the market to buy organic non-fat yogurt; I am too scared to leave her right now. I did check that Stonyfield link above, and although it only pertains to the blueberry cups, I think I will stay away from that brand for now because of the reason for the recall:

"The recall comes in response to consumer complaints reporting tiny beads of glass or plastic the size of mustard seeds in these particular batches of fat free blueberry yogurt."

Thanks for the heads up on this.
If there are any other ideas to keep her nutritional levels up, or to help with the vomiting,please keep them coming.

Argh! I cannot believe you had another power cut yesterday!! I worry so about my Mom with this. It just seem so wide-spread in Johannesburg right now.

My "kleintjie" is just breaking my heart right now. I am at my wits end with this. On monday, before taking her in to be spayed, Jack kept an asking me if we really had to do this. Now I am honestly wondering. If I had known she was going to react this way, I might have reconsidered. I feel soooooo bad for her. She is lying on my lap at this moment, wrapped in her little blankey.

Oh my gosh, just reading all of this *now*. Holy heck. I feel so terrible for little Mango - and for you too, how horrible! If it were me, I'd probably hold off on the Evangers and just give some mashed potatoes for now - do you have any? Just go simple and get some canned/sliced/white potatoes - micro 2 cans - mash them up w/ a bit of butter, dash of salt - the carbs will sooth her tummy, absorb nauseous juices, and give instant carb energy as well (easiest/fastest to absorb). Yogurt good too.

Unreal! How is she? Any better? You may also give Pepto - have you tried that yet?

Oh! so pleased you found us here. You always seem to know so much about nutritional needs. Are the canned white potatoes better than cooking from fresh? I am pleased you mentioned the Evangers. I was about to try it again. Since Sunday night, before her surgery, she has had almost nothing to eat that she actually keeps down. I have been waiting for Hubby to come home and go to the market for me, so just now I tried some Yoplait low fat banana yogurt, (it's what I had in the fridge). I'm not sure if this was the right thing to do, but I don't want to leave her, even for a few minutes to go to the store myself. So far so good. She has wretched a few times, but it is more just the motion; nothing actually came up. I will definitely try the potato idea later.
This is just so strange. I cannot believe that what should have been a simple, routine surgery could have caused this disaster with her. She is so unlike her usual "zoomy" little self. She follows me everywhere, when she is not sitting on my lap, and then just stands there, looking at me. Normally, she is prancing around, yapping at her toys to be thrown, Now she just turns around for me to pick her up. I am just so sad for her.

Poor baby! Fresh is definitely better - just that they take so long - whereas canned, you can have them for her in about 5 minutes (so it's up to you). I'd get canned for the short term, just to get something in her tummy. (altho you can micro fresh too)

You could also add some karo or honey to some water to get some sugar/carb into her system. Or give a bit of bread/soda cracker - anything really, to help absorb some of the juices. Evangers is awesome - I'd only hold off bc she's been soooo darn sensitive.

If you get Pepto - give about a 1/2 tsp. or so - sometimes they'll just lick it right up. You can give more if needed. I know how scary this is - hang in there, you'll get her through this.

I'm so sorry to see that Mango is still having problems. Pepto has helped Maddie a lot when she has thrown up. My vet is a big believer in pepto.

Sending lots of hugs. Has she had her pain killer? I only ask because is it possible, if she hasn't had pain med, that she's in pain and nauseated from that?

I think I just used regular pepto - but if they have pediatric, that's fine too. Canned potato is fine - you're really just trying to get a clean, easy carb into her (easy, quick for you too). If you have Nutrical - def. better than Karo. But you could use Karo in water if she's being picky about drinking, is she? If so, get a little bowl, put water in it - add in 1/2 tsp or so of Karo - and sometimes it helps the little stinkers get hydrated (esp. after vomiting) bc it makes water taste better.

Thankfully she does not seem to be in pain. I have held of giving it to her again, because along with the antibiotic, she starts vomiting soon after she gets it.

Okey dokey.....Pepto, Karo, potatoes are going off on the emailed list as we speak. Thank goodness she is not as teeny weeny as your Marcel, and she has exhibited no low blood sugar symptoms so far. She weighed a "hefty" 4.4 lbs before her surgery, although she seems much lighter now.

Poor baby! Our little girl went through a lot when she was spayed. She refused to eat, but we used a formula that was recommended by a breeder and put it in a syringe to feed her. She kept it down just fine. The syringe only gave her maybe a couple spoonfuls at a time and she'd get about one-and-a-half down each time.

Here's the formula:

1 cup milk (we generally use 1% regular, or use goat's milk which is more digestible and available at the health food store)
1 cup instant baby rice cereal flakes
1 jar strained baby meat (no turkey)
1 tsp karo syrup

Warm up the milk and mix in the cereal until thick. Stir in the strained baby meat and karo. If the mixture is too thick, add a little more milk or water. Refrigerate left-overs and warm up to serve the next time.

Our little girl liked this formula so much we did not have to force her, and eventually, we just put a few spoonfuls on a saucer and she licked it right up.

Okay, so I just fed Mango. First she had a small spoonful of the Organic yogurt. I waited a bit to see if she would throw up, then gave her a small amount of the potato mixture as per Anne's suggestion. So far so good; 15 minutes have passed and no throwing up. This has been the longest she has gone after eating anything, without it coming straight back up again. Oh!I will be just SOOOOO happy if this works. !!!!!! I swear I will be doing zoomies with my little girl when she starts them again
