OMG!! Baxter has worms!! I know this is normal for puppies but I am freaking out!! The vet's office is getting the medicine ready for me to pick up. I'm wondering if it will make him sick. He is only 3 lbs and 13 weeks old. I will be so glad when he gets a little bigger. i won't worry so much.

I am sure the vet will give him his meds accoding to his weight but I would remind him how much he does weigh just to be sure. Follow instructions and all will be fine. All pups have them so don't worry.

I've hadhim a month and taken him to the vet - although i don't remember him checking him for worms. He is a very good vet, one i've used for years and I live in a small town and see him often around town. The first thing the receptionist asked was how much does he weigh. I'm just crazy about him. My husband says he's my world.

| Worms, fleas the first time you find them on your beautiful, purebred animal...ugh!...I realized that dogs are dogs, and your pup probably came with them. Good luck and definitely double check the dosage since your baby is so young and small. Warmly, Deborah

so I gave him the little 1/2 pill last night and he seemed more wired than usual. I hope that is a side effect of the medicine and he calms back down.

I can't remember what they called them but it is the white, spaghetti looking ones. Isn't that gross? The vet only gave him one half pill to take som we don't have to do more tonight. I used to help my dad raise pointers and I remember going through this but I guess it wasn't as gross when I was a child. And they were way bigger puppies than Baxter. I will be glad when he is grown!

The Vet. can't tell if they have worms unless you bring in a fecal sample for testing. I take all three girls fecal sample to the Vet. every 6 months because we don't have cold winters here.

I was assuming she took the puppy in and the vet checked the stool sample. She passed roundworms. If she had hookworms, hopefully the vet would have told her because it takes several wormings to get rid of hookworms. You usually can't see the hookworms when they pass them because they are so small. Tapeworms, from fleas, you can see in the stool and they look like little rice segments.

Fortunately, I could see the worm in the stool and didn't have to take it in. They said the medicine would take care of all the worms. He goes back on April 12 for the next set of shots and the vet will definitely be checking stool again then. Then he's going back as soon as possible to get neutered and checked for worms again!
