My poor Bernie boy...
 

I'm off today, so got up early, gave the furkids a bath and a groom and have been going about my day...Bernie has been very happy in his sunspot on the floor, so I haven't been paying too much attention to him. Then we went to take him out and he didn't want to go with us. This is really odd behavior, so dh picked him up and carried him outside...

Anyway, he's not using his back left leg (the side he has pins on)...and when he stands its shaking. It was even shaking when we were holding him. :( :( Poor guy is dragging that leg around and looking pathetic.

Called the vet and we are leaving in about 20 minutes. He's been doing so well, you'd never even know he'd been through his earlier trauma...

(for those who don't know or remember his story, he's our rescue baby who was found on the street after getting run over by a car. The rescue got him to a great surgeon who did a wonderful job of putting him back together...he's had an uphill battle but has been doing so well!!!!)

I hope this is just some kind of minor injury from jumping off the furniture. I hope my sweetie isn't backsliding!!!

I know the power of YT prayers and well wishes, so thought I'd post this here.

Poor sweet Bernie :( I'm praying that you are okay...and thinking maybe you just got a little sprain. Please let us know what the Vet says. (hugs)

Hope its nothing major with Bernie's leg. maybe he just having a reaction to the implant and not another fracture or problems with his knee. the implant can be taken out no problem.

Poor chap. I hope that little cutie is not hurting too much and is all better soon.

Well, so far it's a mystery. Nothing is broken, no sprain, the pins seem okay.:confused: :confused: :confused:

He's eating and drinking...but now that we are back home he's so depressed/lethargic...I brought him in, covered his bed with a clean sheet and laid him on it. He hasn't moved once and it's been a couple of hours. That's so not like him.

I brought him food and water. He did eat, but didn't drink.

Sorry I didn't come back sooner with an update, I've been focusing on him and on getting the other furkids cared for.

It's so strange to only have one yorkie following me around...I'm worried sick.:(

Thanks again, and please keep him in your prayers. I'll be on and off all night, I'm sitting here beside him on the floor with laptop at hand...just waiting for some kind of improvement.

I'll keep ya posted.

Poor baby ...I hope it's something minor - did he jump and land wrong maybe ? We'll be thinking of you and Bernie and hoping for a fast recovery - it sounds like he's in pain maybe it's muscle strain ???

Maybe a little rest will help - did the vet say anything about giving him baby asprin if he seems to be hurting ?

Let's hope after eating and now maybe a good nights rest will have him feeling better. Wishing Bernie a speedy recovery!:animal-pa

Poor little Bernie! I will be praying that he is feeling better soon. I'm sure your vet checked, and certainly don't want to worry you further, but felt I should share this with you. I don't know if you remember or not, but our little rescue, Reese, had a broken leg and had surgery with pins and he got an infection in the bone. Fortunately, they found his problem and treated the infection and he did great. He's back home with his family, happy as a clam. Toto sends hugs & kisses to little Bernie and we will be watching for updates.

Thanks, V. Bernie is taking a prescribed anti-inflammatory, he did get up and walk a little while ago to get closer to me :) . It was slow, but he moved!!!!! First time in HOURS!

Thanks Tink and Susie (lol, look who gets top billing). Just knowing you are thinking about Bernie makes him feel a little better!

BettyAnne, thanks for the info. Of course, I remember little Reese and his situation. How did they know it was infected? Bernie hasn't run a fever or anything. Of course, he's had his pin and plate for over a year...wonder if it can still go bad after all this time.

Thanks for thinking of us. It really means a lot! Bernie is getting all kinds of attention from big sis, I'm trying to upload a video now. It's too cute, usually she's too much of a princess to snuggle with him :)

I believe that the only symtom was the Foster Mom noticed him limping a little. I don't recall the rest ... I tend to blank out when fear stabs me in the heart, which it did! :( Reese didn't have his pins but a couple of months. I can find out if there were any more signs of the infection ... will try to contact her. I would think that if Bernie has had his pins in for this length of time that it probably wouldn't be an infection. Poor baby, I pray he is feeling better soon.

and here's Bernie, lol this ones not much better, but at least it's of his face...:)
