My poor Bernie boy...

Poor Bernie!!
Banjo just had pins put in his leg- they told me if they bother him later on- they might have to come out- or work out on their own
I hope everything is AOK!

Well, so far it's a mystery. Nothing is broken, no sprain, the pins seem okay.

He's eating and drinking...but now that we are back home he's so depressed/lethargic...I brought him in, covered his bed with a clean sheet and laid him on it. He hasn't moved once and it's been a couple of hours. That's so not like him.

I brought him food and water. He did eat, but didn't drink.

Sorry I didn't come back sooner with an update, I've been focusing on him and on getting the other furkids cared for.

It's so strange to only have one yorkie following me around...I'm worried sick.

Thanks again, and please keep him in your prayers. I'll be on and off all night, I'm sitting here beside him on the floor with laptop at hand...just waiting for some kind of improvement.

I'll keep ya posted.

Poor baby ...I hope it's something minor - did he jump and land wrong maybe ? We'll be thinking of you and Bernie and hoping for a fast recovery - it sounds like he's in pain maybe it's muscle strain ???

Maybe a little rest will help - did the vet say anything about giving him baby asprin if he seems to be hurting ?

Poor little Bernie! I will be praying that he is feeling better soon. I'm sure your vet checked, and certainly don't want to worry you further, but felt I should share this with you. I don't know if you remember or not, but our little rescue, Reese, had a broken leg and had surgery with pins and he got an infection in the bone. Fortunately, they found his problem and treated the infection and he did great. He's back home with his family, happy as a clam. Toto sends hugs & kisses to little Bernie and we will be watching for updates.

Thanks, Dawn. He does have me worried, but everyone's kindness and well wishes do help a lot!

Thanks, V. Bernie is taking a prescribed anti-inflammatory, he did get up and walk a little while ago to get closer to me . It was slow, but he moved!!!!! First time in HOURS!

BettyAnne, thanks for the info. Of course, I remember little Reese and his situation. How did they know it was infected? Bernie hasn't run a fever or anything. Of course, he's had his pin and plate for over a year...wonder if it can still go bad after all this time.

Thanks for thinking of us. It really means a lot! Bernie is getting all kinds of attention from big sis, I'm trying to upload a video now. It's too cute, usually she's too much of a princess to snuggle with him

I believe that the only symtom was the Foster Mom noticed him limping a little. I don't recall the rest ... I tend to blank out when fear stabs me in the heart, which it did! Reese didn't have his pins but a couple of months. I can find out if there were any more signs of the infection ... will try to contact her. I would think that if Bernie has had his pins in for this length of time that it probably wouldn't be an infection. Poor baby, I pray he is feeling better soon.
