| Dry, scratched ear? We just noticed that our baby Violet has her skin scratched/peeling on her right ear but nothing on the other side. Its on the back and is dry looking but no bumps or other markings like she got in a fight or anything like that. Also seems to have gotten worse since yesterday when we first noticed it but we haven't seen her scratch it at all. Any idea what this is and if its serious?

| Hmmm... not an expert by far... but try searching for "dog mange" and see if the symptoms are similar. Thats what it sounds like to me... Hope this helps

| Thanks for the reply. It didn't seem quite like mange, but close enough that it scared me into taking her in. Vet doesn't know what caused it but doesn't think its too serious and put her on some anti-botics and then gave us some topical cream stuff to put on the skin. Hopefully that'll clear it all up.
