| luxating patellas My little guy has stage one luxating patellas in both back legs... I have read that jumping makes it worse. If you are standing up he will just hop away on his hind legs.... should I not let him do this? |

YT Graphic Artist Donating Member | I would let him do it, but not for long periods of time. It seems to make them so happy when they do their little "yorkie dance". My Shadow has LP in both back legs. I'm not sure what grade he is, since the vet only "felt" for it, but as of now, it only bothers him on occassion. I try not to let him jump off the couch/bed, and I bought him those doggie stairs. Also, you could supliment with glucosimine. It's good for the joints.

| My Roxie has LP in both legs. Her left leg was a grade 3 and she had surgery two weeks ago. Roxie's ortho specialist said that jumping does make the problem worse. I would be cautious of the hoping. I would also recommend a glucosimine supplement. Roxie will take her glucosimine supplement once a day for the rest of her life.

| Layla has stage 1 too. i still let her jump. Try adding Glucosamine to his diet. You can get it in a liquid suppliment. it won't make the LP go away but it is to promote joint health. I add it to Layla's food every supper. |
