| YT 2000 Club Member | Ya know, things like this just tick me off to no end what so ever! I was in the same situation as you last summer, there was a cat that stayed around our house but back at the edge of the woods, eventually it came up closer and closer and I earned it's trusts. It'll let me pet it, give it kisses and all tat, but the minute I tried picking it up and putting it in a carrier to get her to the vet, she went NUTS! I was so heart broken and actually cried cause I felt so bad for her and wanted to get her seen by our vet and get her the meds she needed. No way was she having any part of the carrier though. So, I called my vet, canceled the appointment I had made for her. (Oh by the way, I named her Squeeker cause she can't meow either, it sounds like a lil squeek so that's how she got her name.) I talked to my vet and told him about the gunk in her eyes, how she can't meow and how horribly skinny she was. He let me come in and pic up meds for her without seeing her (thank God!) Over the next month to month and a half, I'd put her meds on her food a few times daily and stand there to make sure she ate it all. (Canned cat food was GREAT for this!) I asked around and no one here seems to know who she belongs to, so, I decided to try and take the best care of her as I could and just keep feeding her. I so wanted to bring her inside and make her and inside cat, but I'm really afraid she would hurt my cat I already have inside as this cat may be a farrel cat. Over the course of the summer, we fattened her up and we went out and bought a big rubbermaid container with a lid, tipped it upside down and cut an opening in one end and laid a comforter in it for her. We put it under the front porch and then got those plastic runners and put all across the top of the porch over the wood to keep any rain from leaking down through. Then when winter got her, we went and got bails of straw or hay, I always get them confused, lol. Anyhow, we put the bails around the rubbermaid container and left an opening where she can go in and out, this kind of insulated things and helps to keep the wind and stuff off of her. Perhaps you could do something like this with the cat you found? If the vet says meds and TLC, fresh food and water will bring her back around and save her life, I'd give it a try. Granted, it does still break my heart that she won't let me get her into the carrier and to the vet, but at least now I know she isn't starving to death and I tell her each and every day how much I love her, and I really do, even though she isn't mine rightfully. When it gets so cold out, I always put my coat on and go our and make sure she's in her lil box, if she isn't there, I go through the woods looking for her, normally I just yell Squeeker and she comes running Oh and one day she actually MEOWED to!! I was so happy. Maybe that cat will get her meow back if she can get some treatment and some help to get better? I know how your heart breaks though, I cannot stand to see an animal suffer either. if the vet says there's nothing that can be done for this cat, the most loving thing you could do for him or her is help him or her to heaven. You have to love them enough to let them go and know they'll find peace on the other side. I know it's hard, but for me, it'd be so much more hard to see them suffer knowing there was nothing that could be done for them to help their quality of life. As for if you're rightfully allowed to take the cat and have it humanely put down if that's what needs to be done, I don't know, but look at it this way, if it had an owner that actually cared, that cat wouldn't be laying there in that shape now would it? Yes, there's always the possibility that the cat got out and got lost, but 9 times out of 10, it's a stray that no one wants or someone dumped off. Maybe if you could get it the help it needed and it could get better, perhaps you could keep him or her and make it an inside cat? Or, possibly find it a good loving forever home. No, we can't save them all, but we can sure make a world of difference in one animals life at a time when it's placed in our paths in life. Please keep us updated and I'll keep this cat in my thoughts and prayers.

| YT 2000 Club Member | I also wanted to tell you, even if this cat needs to be put down at least you carred enough to help it go peacefully and not leave it laying on a curb to die cold and alone. You have a huge heart and there needs to be more people like you in this world.

| I Love My Lil' Punkin's Donating Member | First of all, I just want to say that I have read each and every single post here...and thank you all SO MUCH for all of your thoughts, advice, personal stories, care and concern. It really does mean so much to me as I am just totally depressed over this whole thing. I've cried today over this and am just sick about it. I did go back over there to check on the cat, and I don't know if this is good or bad news (to ME it's bad news as I wanted so desperately to help this sweet baby), but I couldn't find the little darling ANYWHERE AND....the dish of water and food that I put down was no where in sight I cannot believe it. I don't know what the heck happened or where the poor little cat is, but now I am just worried SICK. My husband and I looked everywhere for it. I looked around, sadly thinking that maybe it had passed away and was laying somewhere, but I didn't see him/her anywhere The food and water that I put out for him/her was no where to be found I just don't understand. God....I hope and pray that no one has hurt this cat or has done anything awful to it. I am sick at my stomach thinking about it. I just can't imagine anyone around there actually helping this cat out of the blue....I mean, if you guys could have seen it....it was just so skinny and looked like it had been in that condition for a good while. Even the lady I spoke to outside said that she had seen it lying around for the longest time....she said that the cat was very old (and it did indeed look it). And here I am thinking to myself...."well if you've seen it laying around like this for so long, why didn't you help it!!!" Oh, I guess she just isn't an "animal person" I just can't tolerate stuff like this. I get so upset over it and it's all I can think about. I don't know...I just don't know what to do now. I want so badly to find that baby and take it home with me...I will do whatever it takes to get it help, if it's not already too late for that. I KNOW this cat is old...you can tell just by looking at him/her...and I also can tell that she has a number of health problems, but even IF it can't be helped...I would like to help it get to heaven, peacefully My heart is breaking...I don't know where this little sweetheart is and I don't know what to do...I feel an incredible amount of guilt now for not just bringing it back here with me to my moms house to begin with I'm going back down there in a little while to look again...someone is probably going to call the cops on me thinking that I am up to something, but I don't care...whatever. I just want to know that this poor baby is ok and if I can find it, I want to bring it home with me

| Donating YT 7000 Club Member | Brooke, I'm sorry you can't find the cat. I'm really hoping that you can so that you can help him pass peacefully. But I don't want you to feel guilty. You cared. You probably cared more than anyone else in this sweet cat's life. If the water and food dish are both gone, maybe someone found it and is taking care of it. Either way, you cared enough to try and you obviously still care. Good luck to you and God bless!

I am hoping that the ONLY reason I can't find it is because he/she is in someones warm home in a soft little bed, being fed and taken care of...I just hope I'm right

Oh God...I hate this!! I am outside at my moms house right now on the laptop and there is ANOTHER "stray" over here rubbing up against my leg (only this one is young and fat, cause I always feed it, LOL ) and seeing this one is making me think of the other one And as for family...yeah, most of my family thinks I am nuts too, except my mom and hubby, and an aunt because she is a HUGE animal lover also. I can just hear my sister now though...."Oh GOD! It's just a CAT!!! " Whatever...

				 | Maybe someone picked her up and took her home? I can't see someone taking the cat and the bowls if they meant to do harm..they would have just taken the cat right? |

I'm really not sure what is going on....I had to sit the dishes sort of in front of someones house on the sidewalk, and the only reason I did this is because I had no idea where else to put it I didn't want to put it in the STREET for pete's sake.....so anyway, I'm just hoping that the people who lived in that house didn't get mad or whatever, that there was a food and water dish in front of their house and they picked it up and tossed it I just have no idea

And thank you so much for saying what you did...that is the sweetest thing. I just really do hate to see an animal suffering....there is just no excuse for it in my opinion I really do hope that he/she is safe with someone...and if not, I sure hope that I am able to find him tonight, or at least tomorrow
