| Roxie has puppy vaginitis Anyone ever had their girls go through this? I took her to the vet today because of scabs on her vulva and he said she has puppy vaginitis probably due to a hormone inbalance probably transfered from her mom through her milk. He gave her a shot o penicillin G and some cream for the scabs and anti biotics for the swelling of her vulva...apparently it is 4x bigger than it is supposed to be. Just updating everyone on whats going on here and wondering if anyone has ever had this happen. She is mad at daddy for taking her to the vet for a bunch of the shots so she is pretty much refusing everything i give her. sissy is mad hehe |

| He did no actual tests. He told me that he has dealt with this many many times before and people always insisted on cultures and blood tests to rule out other problems but in all cases his diagnoses was always right and had the owners just trusted him he could have saved them hundreds of dollars so he told me to just trust the treatment he was giving and have her spayed because were she to become pregnant most likely she would have complications that could cause irreversable harm to her and the puppys. I trust my vet, he is a great doctor so im just doing what he says to do. but yea, i think she will be fine. thanks for that link |

| Well, that is great that your vet could diagnose it without testing.

| I imagine it's like a yeast infection or something that ob/gyn's see so often and know the symptoms, that they really don't need to do any testing on them and running up a bigger vet bill for something they've seen a bazillion times. And, they give you what should treat it and if it doesn't work within a few days, then they'll do the testing. It used to be called "empirical" medicine before everyone got so sue happy. It's nice to know there's some vets out there who know what they're looking at after they've dealt with it time and time again and don't just soak you for unnecessary testing.
