| Throw up!! Please Read so my baby girl cookie sometimes like to eat her poopie and when she does she throw it back up [i know i know...GROSS] BUT lately she has been really good and has not been eating her poopie. ....well!! something is wrong..Cookie will eat her breakfast and we place her in her kennel and a 1/2 hour later she does her business outside. She soon starts to play with our other baby girl Lady. She soon throws up!! sometimes it is clear like water but sometimes it has bits of her food. I dont know what to do!! it doesnt happen every day but when it happens..she throws up about 3 times.. ...i dont know what to do!! i thought it was because she is drinking to much water..but i cant stop her from drinking water!! i thought it was too much food or eating too fast so i have cut back a tad bit!! i also thought it was all her clowing around so i didnt let them play together for about 45 minutes!! BUT she still throws up!! anyone have any ideas??

| I suggest changing her food. Each dog is an individual and different foods work for certain dogs while others do not. Yours may have a sensitive stomach or an allergy to something in the food you are currently feeding. I'm not sure if vomiting is a symptom of Liver Shunt or not...but yorkies are 36 times more likely to have a liver shunt than all other breeds combined...it is way too common in this breed. I highly suggest all yorkies be bile acid tested as a puppy to check for it.

| What kind of food are you feeding your baby girl? If she is just throwing up occasionally it is probably nothing to be too concerned about. Puppies often eat things they should not and it causes them to throw up. She may also just be playing to hard and drinking more water than her tummy can handle. If they vomit a lot then that is an indication of pancreatitis which is often caused by feeding a food to high in protein. |

I would also look at pancreatitis (mild and chronic) f the food is higher fat. Yes, GI upset is a symptoms of shunt. I would say you would be being extra cautious by testing, but all Yorkies should really be tested anyway. There is too much bad breeding not to.

| Hello, Last year I went through this exact same thing with one of my girls. It really scared me. I have had yorkies for 11 years and NEVER had a health problem with any of them. I took Foxy to the vet three times in one week because I just knew something TERRIBLE was going on. They did a sonogram, blood work and barium x-rays and everything came back fine. It ended up being the treats I was feeding my fur kids at that time. Foxy liked them so much she literally was not chewing them. She was scarfing them down as fast as she could without chewing properly. This upset her tummy to the point that her food and water would not stay down. So maybe trying a different food or a food that is for dogs with a sensitive stomach would help your baby. Good luck. I know this can be VERY worrisome! Pam |

| try some soft food for a while and then start mixing crushed hard food and slowly switch to a high quality kibble like orijen fresh fish. she may be allergic to chicken or something in her current food or the fillers it contains. or home cooking could be your best bet if you are willing. That is what i would try before hitting up the vet office. If you start seeing blood in the puke that would be your cue to head to the vet. Thats just what id do. Good luck and i hope she gets better! |

I was reading about the treats he does not eat them he gobbles it, them and then drinks water and that is what he throws up. And also before bed time he plays alot. I was wondering if the same thing. But what do I do now since he won't eat his food.? thanks Cheryl |
