I have to say the same thing. I cannot believe what I am reading. Can you say "Neglect." Having a dog over 9 yrs. and NEVER taking it to the vet and now it's sick and still no vet. I myself would NEVER be able to stay married to a man like this. Show some humanity and take the dog to the vet and atleast put him out of his or her misery. This is horrible.

I strongly disagree with how she and her husband are dealing with this situation, but at least she is HERE and asking questions. How can we make a difference here if we run her off??

Judy, I totally understand what you're saying. I think she's looked here for that push to action. She feels horrible and needs ammo to take to her husband.

At the same time ... there is a total double standard and it didn't get like this overnight.

To the OP (Original Poster):

What would you do if your husband refused your child or your yorkie medical attention? Do that. You obviously know the right thing to do. You just need some encouragement here. Please do the right thing.

"Okay here is my concern, I have my 2 furbabies inside. They dont come in contact with the sick dog, and they have all their shots, but sometimes my husband would let the sick one come in the back yard (they have a run to themselves) where mine go potty! I'm just really concerned. The we also have a beautiful 2 year old daughter, who I WILL NOT let touch this sick dog, because I dont know what he has!

"least she is HERE and asking questions" Judy In Waco. I disagree. The only concern this poster has shown (As quoted above) is concern for her Yorkies and daughter catching something. She's not concerned for the poor dog. She's concerned over what it may be and whether or not her dogs or child will catch it.

I could not live with myself if an animal (any animal) were within my reach and dying. For me, my husband would be sleeping in his truck if he acted in this manner - seriously, we would have problems AND I'd be taking half his hard earned money to boot. This upsets me so I can hardly think straight. Please please get the dog some help or have him PTS to end his suffering.

well I talked to him tonight and he is going to take him to the vet tomorrow after work. I am VERY VERY Happy about that!
And thank you for listening... I will let you all know what the vet says tomorrow in the evening. And for the person who said something about animal cruelty, my dogs are very very very very well taken care of! Spoiled to the limit! Those are HIS dogs from before we were married! I have no control of how he kept them! Since he has gotten married they have been taken care of because of ME! So dont criticize me for something that I did not do. This is something that has just came upon his dog.

OH also, please, like my husband would refuse help for my daughter! Some people! I came asking advice on how to handle the situation. Not got bashed with some ridiculous and I mean RIDICULOUS comments! And because some people like my husband arent obsessed with his animals, does not make him a bad person. He is an awesome husband, provider and father. I dont agree with him all the time about how he had had outside dogs even, but that doesnt make him a bad person.

People are upset because your husband neglected the dogs, and that is a form of abuse. This poor dog was suffering and nothing was being done, that is why people are upset. This is a forum of yorkie-lovers, and yorkies are animals, so many on here love all dogs and other animals. It's no different then someone saying "my husband beats his dog and I sit back and watch". The poor dog was suffering! Please just understand as to why people got upset, animal abuse is a bad subject and people are going to get upset about it.

Rather your "obsessed" with your animals or not, you took on a responsibilty to care for them when you got them, taking a sick dog to the vet is what ANY responsible pet owner would do!
