|  How frustrating that you have to wait so long to talk to the specialist when you know she needs attention now. I would keep calling.... I'm really sorry you have to go through this with little Dixie. It really is heart breaking and makes one feel so helpless. I have been through a similar situation. Not with the kidney but another disease that was fatal. I had to make that last decision of when to let her go and it devastated me. I came home from that and went out and bought a perennial bush and planted it in her memory. To this day, that plant is still known by her name. | Patti, I am so very sorry that you and Dixie are in this terrible place. I agree with another poster who stated that you will know when it is time, by looking in their eyes. I lost my cat Rebel last Christmas. She was 18 years old and failing, but I watched her closely every day and I called my vet with tears in my eyes and a very heavy heart to ask her what I should do. She gave me this very advice and it was remarkably true. Two days later I watched her and I just knew in my heart that it was time...and the right thing to do for her. | How about naming a star for Dixie? Have you seen the website called Dogstar? You can post a sparkling star in the sky for your Dixie.
