Dixie Dxie last ate yesterday at 3 pm and then threw up at 7pm. She just lays there all day wrapped in a blanket. She probably weighs 1 1/2 lbs now, you can feel every bone in her body. I have an urgent call in to the specialist and he hasn't called me back. It has been an hour and a half. I keeping asking myself if she has the strength to fight and know she is never going to overcome the kidney failure, but I was hoping she could have some time with us and some quality of life. I just don't know if that is possible anymore and am I keeping her alive for me. Please keep her in your prayers for the best outcome for her whatever that may be. I feel she is in God's hands now and I just don't want her to suffer. |
Oh Patti <<huggggggggs>> I am SO sorry to hear this... I had prayed and prayed hoping that precious Dixie would respond to treatment and give both of you even a little more beautiful time together.... You don't want to remember her this way.... as we talked about when her condition first came to light - she will let you know when she's through fighting... when she's ready to go home.... and it sounds like she is beginning to give you the signs. Follow your heart my friend.... no guilt... no regret.... and know that we are all here for you.... Much love and many many snuggles to that precious little girl... Dena Quote:

Patti...Oh My Goodness this is making me cry..Poor little Pixie..I am praying so hard for her..that she isn't suffering/doesn't suffer and the Good Lord will keep her in His protective hands!! Bless Your heart, this has to be so difficult for you..I'm sure you were picked to Love this little girl and she is blessed to have you!! ((((HUGS)))) |
ohh goodness... could you maybe take her to another vet , fresh eyes, fresh mind maybe? I pray to god this baby makes it and gets better soon... |
Thanks all. She is going to the only nephrologist around. Unfortunatley, she is so weak I need to get her tended to immediatley. I called back the vet and talked to the tech who said do you want to bring her in and I told him I needed to talk to the doctor before I make a decision to continue treatment. He said the doctor wasn't in yet but was expected any minute, that was 25 minutes ago. She is in such a fragile state and at 1 1/2 lbs has no reserve. If only I could get her to eat but I read that they are so nauseous from the kidney problems and that's one reason they don't eat. I am sorry to ramble but just being on YT is what is keeping me going right now. |
Oh Patti! I wish I had some information that could help you. We'll be thinking of you, and keep you and little Dixie in our prayers. Emma & Milli send kisses and snuggles to Dixie to help her feel loved and warm, and to help her get better soon. Hugs to you, Patti. |

Please let us know once you've spoken to the doctor. |
It's a tough place to be in. I know that. You just have to do what YOU think is best for her. Prayers for your little Dixie. |
Not only is it tough...it is just heartbreaking. :( My heart just aches for you. It's so very hard, isn't it. It is possibly the hardest part of loving any animal. Many {{hugs}} and prayers. I am so very very sorry. |
Patti - I am so sorry for both of you. I know how much you wanted her in your life. I'll be praying for Dixie to gain some strength and for you to know when the time is right. Hugs to you all. |

Should you decide to continue treatment, they can put her on an IV to feed her, and also give her med to combat the nausea. We did that with Tiffany, and it did help. She is losing weight very quickly. Praying the specialist will be able to help you in your decision. I know, it's not an easy one, I've been there. Hugs, Sheila |
Oh Patti, I am in tears over this...I am sorry that Dixie is so sick. I will pray for her... |

They always let you know when they are ready to go if you listen and look carefully. It isn't good for them or for you to prolong their life with constant drugs and is by no means a a happy time for them. I'm sorry this is happening to you and her. I had to let my 16 year old Chihuahua go in Sept. so I know what your going thru. Warmest of hugs. |
