| ![]() i just got my yorkie the day before xmas and for the last two days when she eats in the morning she throws up....she doesnt have diarehha(sp?) and when she eats in the evening /night she is good. i talked to two vets. one said she might have kennel cough. the other said she is eating too quickly when she wakes up becuase she is excited she has food, and that her morning food amount is too much that she is being fed.also i am looking to get insurace through petsmart vet they have in the stores .my main questions are 1)what do you think is she eating to much and too fast? 2)how much should a 10week old yorkie be eating a day in terms of measuring cups? 3) whats the best insurance and is it really worth it? thanks . |

2. depends on the food 3. Banfield is supposed to be good for the first year (good deal) but I would be very carry with them. Some Banfields are good and some are not. Insurance as a whole is not a bad idea but if you can save up and start an emergency account for her it might be better is the long run.

| ![]() The feeding recommendations are here: http://www.professionalpetfood.com/p...arley_formula/ For a dog 3-5 pounds and 6-11 weeks old it should eat 1 to 1 and 1/3 cups a day. For a dog 3-5 pounds ages 3-4 months she should be eating 3/4 to 1 and 1/4 cups a day. This is if you aren't feeding anything else besides a few treats with it. I'm guessing your dog is less than or right around 3 pounds. It looks like you should be feeding no more than 1 and 1/3 cups a day until 3 months old. Maybe even closer to a cup depending on her size and energy level. Puppies need to be fed atleast three times a day and four times is a good idea for tiny Yorkies. I would split that amount of food between three or four meals.

| ![]() Yes, because she is growing and needs energy (calories).

| ![]() Yeah try slowing her down ... give a little less ... Is she drinking a ton before or after eating? A lot of times when they eat + drink or just drink too fast it can make 'em puke. You don't want to starve her or not give enough ... but maybe only allow 3/4 cup per meal. No more ... if she can handle that ... and still has appetite, give a little more with the 2 meals ... And someone else I think asked about how many treats or nutrical type supplements you're giving throughout the day. |

| ![]() You should get the treats / reward for good behavior thing goin now ... so you can get a head start on obedience training. I personally have preferred small milk-bone treats. Every dog is different but most like lots of treats! Natural or home made is really popular right now. I'd maybe post in the diet forum for some more seasoned advice. Nutrical is a great sugar & nutrient supplement that can be given on a regular schedule or just when your baby plays a lot. Since they're so tiny, they can get hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) very easily. It sets in quick and can be dangerous. So giving a little pinky of nutrical is good just for precaution. http://www.millpledge.com/preparations/nutrical.htm http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=109194 |
