| Yelping Tonight my almost 5 month old yorkie was sleeping on the couch with me and he instantly woke up with one quick yelp I jumped up to see if maybe he had his collar on or something that could have possibly caused him pain but there was nothing that could have. Then less then half an hour he yelped again with nothing near him AGAIN. He got up after he yelped and shook his head and kinda scratched at his ears so then I was thinking maybe he had a bad ear ache or something. Is this possible. He kinda coughs a bit on a regular but not regular basis but it doesn't seem anything like kennel cough. My vet said it seems more like reverse sneezing, just wondering if maybe this would have anything to do with the earache. Any suggestions would be great. He has only yelped twice and he doesn't seem to be different in any aspect so i'm not extremly worried but still cautious |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | When was his last check up with vet? Now many ear problems /infections and such will either have a discharge and or the ear will have an odour that progressively gets worse if infection isn't treated. Check his ears for wax buildup and or smell. Ears do need to be cleaned on Yorkies regularly. Weekly I do mine. Symptoms persist see your Vet. Hope this helps Gail

| If your dog is yelping in pain for no reason I would say a vet check up is in order... my dog was also yelping once for what appeared to be no reason to me and the vet found an infected tooth... sometimes we can't see anything but the vet can find something... dogs dont typically yelp for no reason, there must be something bothering him.

| he just got his 16 week vaccines last wednesday. So I would have thought the vet would have caught it unless it just happened the last few days. Its been very cold, windy, rainy and snowy here and I've been trying to get him to go potty outside so he has been outside for a few minutes a couple times a day. I'm not sure if dogs are like humans when it comes to catching colds |
