Regardless of if he was at the vet on Wednesday something is not right and you should revisit the vet. It is not normal for a puppy to yelp for no reason. Reverse sneezing or coughing is not a "pain" issue. There must be something else going on that possibly the vet might have overlooked.

Please keep us updated as to what your vet has to say.
