| ![]() When does a yorkie need his first and second rabies shot?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!! please answer me asap! Thanks so much!!! i'm going to take him in to see a vet this week. The breeder said they already gave him his first rabies shot. I tried to feed him some honey today for his blood-sugar and he bit me really hard and I started to bleed. He's like walking around everywhere going into corners and behind stuff but he's always been like that so that's not what I'm worried about but he seems disoriented. omg i want to cry!!!!! First Rabies shot is usually given between 6 & 7 months....Dependent on your vet...it could have been only a 1/2 dose....Therefore requiring a 2nd shot at a year old.....Additional rabies shots are given annually or every 3rd year dependent on regulations of your state and city. This disorientation I would have your vet check. How often does it happen, does it happen after feeding, etc.... Document these episodes...why, where and times they happen

| ![]() thank you so much. the disorientation just happened like 20 minutes ago. I've never seen him like that. He's 7 months old so he's due now. So i'm going to take him to the vet tomorrow. I looked at his charts of what shots he's gotten and it doesn't say rabies but the breeder told me Major did get it but I guess she was lying. =( I'm worried about my baby AND myself since I got bit by him and it bled a bit. |

He should have had a series of 3 shots for parvo, distemper and parainfluenza; 1 at 8 weeks; 1 at 12 weeks and 1 at 16 weeks...then a booster at a year old.....Kennel cough should have been administered too.. either by vaccine or intranasal. Did you rinse your wound with peroxide and apply an antibacterial? I don't think your lil guy has rabies....but on rare occassions their enzymes can cause some problems to us.

| ![]() Anytime a Yorkie is disorientated and it doesn't seem to be hypoglycemia, it should be tested for liver shunt. Please take your dog to the vet. There are also a couple other possibilities...

| ![]() [QUOTE=Mardelin;1573824]Did she not give you a copy of his shot records (over vaccinating can be just as detrimental as no vaccines)....If he'd had a rabies shot, it would have been administered by her vet...and a certificate would have been given..... Have always done the vaccine since. That was just 4 years old. I still think of my little man every day..pooh's mum |

| ![]() Most states require that a puppy be given a rabies vaccine by 4 months of age. Most vets give it between 12 and 16 weeks.
