| yorkie over-bite Our Yorkie is almost 9 months old & I think that recently I am seeing an over-bite with her teeth. Can the vets do anything about that? I think that I have read that can be a bad thing & I am wondering how & why that happens? I don't seem to see it all the time. Sometimes it looks more noticeable then other times. If anyone out there knows any thing about this sort of thing I sure would appreciate hearing from you. |

| My 6 month old Malachi has an overbite, it was not apparent when he was younger but formed as his skull was growing. So far it has not caused him any problems, finngers crossed it stays that way. |

| over bite Did you get the baby teeth removed? Sometimes, retained baby teeth can push the adult teeth out of alignment and ruin an otherwise nice bite. If it is not a bad over bite, its not a health issue. Good luck, Lynn |

| overbite tried to post this a minute ago, but it didnt post so: Does your yorkie still have his baby teeth? Sometimes, retained baby teeth will push the adult teeth out of alignment. Have the vet remove all baby teeth, so hopefully as the skull grows, the teeth will come back in alignment. A small over bite is not a health issue. Good luck, Lynn |

| I think it's a genetic thing, and I don't know that they can fix it.

| Ellie has a huge overbite. It is not standard but I think it is adorable.

| i can't remember if the vet said aurora had an over or underbite, but he said she had a slight one. I was worried when he said it, but said its ok. He said it would only be an issue if I wanted her as a showdog. She is my pet and I had no interest in showing her, so her over or underbite doesn't bother me.

| Sometimes the growth rate of the lower jaw will either slow down a little or grow a little faster which causes an over or under bite. This problem can be corrected only if the jaw either continues to grow to the correct size or slow down. If by the time the dog is a year old and has an under bite or over bite, then it will stay that way. It's rare that the problem is so severe that it interfere's with chewing. |
