| Teeth Brushing I am wondering how often people brush or use rinse on their Yorkies teeth.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | I had a vet tell me that brushing probably wasn't worth it. He said it's a lot of work and it may not even prevent them from losing their teeth anyway. On top of it all, he said, they get along just fine with fewer teeth as adults. But I ignored him and brush every day. If nothing else, he's got the sweetest smelling breath ever.

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | I only feed dry food so I didn't really think that Lex would need the brushing but when he was ready for his neuter we saw they were a bit gunked up. So after the cleaning I started brushing his teeth every sunday when he gets his bath. I am now working on getting Lulu into it but she hates baths much less the teeth brushing. If you can get them used to it then it's great because you won't have to worry so much about getting their teeth cleaned and their breath will smell nice.

| Ellie has some pretty bad periodontal disease and just had 9 adult teeth pulled. We are so thankful that the infection didn't go any further than her mouth. We have to brush her teeth everyday now and use OraVet once a week. Now we have no choice really.

| recently, I took coli to get a dental, because his mouth stinked very badly. Now Im trying to clean his teeth twice a week but he just hates it. I never got him use to it, so now who play tug of war. He runs, I tug. Its ridiculous, but when his mouth starts to stink, you canŽt be near him. So for now IŽll to stick with brushing twice a week, if I canŽt IŽll change to once a week and if that doesnŽt work it back to getting dental appointments. My poor poor pocket. |

| I try and brush their teeth every other day, and use Petzlife oral gel every few days for maintenance. They've gotten used to the brushing and don't fight it anymore. I used Petzlife daily for the first few months after I got it, and it made a huge difference in their teeth.

| We were just cleared last night to use a Sonicare on Ellie's teeth if she will tolerate it. I hope it works so she won't have to have so many dentals.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | I hadn't thought of that! That would be awesome if they tolerated it. As much as I brush Eddie's teeth regularly, I don't think I'm doing a real good job.
