In fact I think that is what Betty Ann Durrer does, she shows.. has breeders that have her lines.. and she gets the shows, and the person sells the pets.. For she is too busy with shows.. you cannot do the amount of shows she does, and breed as many of her lines neither.. That way a breeder does not lose her lines.. yet her name gets out.. and she has a good chance of keeping herself in show puppies..I do not know Betty Ann at all... but I do know of a breeder that has her yorkies..she gets to co own one or two that way also.. |
Hot Rod came from a small pet store. The owner is really sincere and took time to talk with us even though we were not buying. We were just deciding if we could be "dog people" after being "cat people" for (at the time) 12 years. I since found out that his breeder is usda listed and have requested more info on her but they are backlogged so it will be a while before I get any information. So far Hot Rod is very healthy. He had a slip with his knee once but has not had any episodes since. The vet said it wasn't bad at all. He will be going for neutering next week so I guess if there is anything we will know after his bloodwork. We are seriously looking at getting him a lil sister and I have definitely been doing some homework. I just want to make sure that she is healthy and comes from a happy and good place. |
My Hopey came from a wonderful YT breeder (lksdolls).... My Tootie came from, welllll, I really dont know... I bought him online, sight unseen, BEFORE I luckily found YT... I am just lucky that he turned out very healthy and such a good boy! d |
I was lucky enough to get both of mine from show breeders here in S.A. Pam Brown of Brolea Yorkshire Terriers and Carol Campbell of Country Blu Yorkshire Terriers. Unfortunately there are many "reputable breeders" here that only breed for the Tinies:( Many people ask if my CoCo - show quality, and Coffee - too big for showing, are a different breed of yorkies as they are not "tea cup" Sheilagh |
The Jury Is Still Out??? Searched for almost a year, however I confused High price= Quality. Website was so inviting as shown, beautiful Champion sired/lines, Breeder could really talk the talk and far too proud of her Yorkie breeder skills and ethics??? Love my Baby Jazzi, just hate the breeder. We are still going back and forth over numerous issues. Have not discussed breeder on YT until all issues are settled. Still doing alot of investigations. Would never report until I am sure. Stay tuned Hope I am wrong. |
I went to look at a local(2 hours away) ladies puppies! She had 4 pets, 2 yorkies, ! chi, 1 pom. The pups were raised in her very clean house! I put a deposit down and went back 2 1/2 weeks later and got Banjo!! Banjo's 1st human Mommy and I still keep in touch!!She has a litter only every once in a while! |
Smokey we got through a rescue and we know he came from a puppy mill in southern VA. Chip I believe came from a puppy mill. The "breeder" had a "kennel" with a lot of different breeds and they didn't know much about Chip when we got him. They didn't know his DOB, guessed on what he ate, and "forgot" they had him at the house. How do you forget you have a puppy?! He was very sick when we got him and wouldn't eat because they told us he was eating dry food and apparently he didn't know how and he was malnourished. We almost lost him the day after we brought him home. They also sold teacups. |
My two girls both came from a show breeder. |
Jeter came from a wonderful in home breeder that lives just a few towns over from us. My mother had gotten a puppy from her in 06 and I used her because my mother was so pleased with her puppy. I would recommend her to anyone! |
What a wonderful idea for a thread. I wasn't even sure what to expect for the poll results. I chose responsible in-home breeder. But, of course, I guess that's my opinion of her too. What is your definition of that? |
I got Marty from the litter SharonandTink and I raised. We bred Sharon's dog and raised the pups. It was a lot of fun and a lot of hard work. So I got my yorkie from a responsible owner, a 'back yard breeder' and an owner who "gave up" their little one. |
Responsible Brreder? Wendy Garcia, Yorktown Heights, NY = who never returned my calls or email! does anyone know Her? |
I got my Addison from a byb waaaay before YT and I knew what byb's and puppymills are. I got my Brady Angus from a wonderful YTer! |
gino came from a show breeder |
I Decide With a "Show Breeder" I waited for one an a half years... then I decided on a Breeder. It was a very hard thing to do, but I waited... and waited... and waited... and then decided to go to a Show Breeder in California. I have to be honest, this is going to be my first Yorkie and I was so scared that I would make a mistake in selecting a Breeder. Or do business with someone who doesn't care for the health or welfare of "OUR" animals. :( After I found a Great Breeder, I then had to wait until she was going to Breed her Bitch. Then more waiting... and more waiting... I sure hope there is a girl in there? Patience! Lots of Patience! I have always had my heart:luvu: set on a girl. Even though I have NO intentions in breeding her, I still wanted a "mommy's girl" for my very first Yorkie. Well, this is my very first message on YT... and I hope to make really good YT friends here. My baby girl was born on April 2, 2008 @ 3.9oz (small) and this is why she will not be Showing her. She is finally 4 weeks old now and I only have 8 more weeks to wait. I'm so excited!!! :D I will name her LaLoni which means Heavenly Blossoms. |
