| Yorkie Lover Donating Member | Of course I love the personality of yorkies, but what I wanted was a small dog that could go everywhere with me!! Our 2 are 4 1/2 pounds and 8 pounds and both are perfect.......their personalities are very different...but I do not think I could ever pick one over the other!!

| Donating YT 7000 Club Member | Size really was important when we were looking for a yorkie because our lab is afraid of big dogs (you try to figure that one out ) but now that I have 2, the reason I'm in love with them is their personality. I wouldn't care if they weighed 800 lbs - I'd still have one!

| Donating YT 14K Club Member | No...if yorkies were 50 lbs, I would not have one. We've had large dogs, raised large dogs and they just don't fit in my bed the way a smaller dog would. I love the aspect that they don't shed like so many other dogs and their sheer beauty is what made me pick them.

| IMO What makes the personality so great is that it comes in a small Pkg. To me it's about the attitude. Now 10 pounds would not make a difference, but 50 would. A big dog who thinks he is a lap dog is not nearly as charming as a little dog who thinks he's a Great Dane. It's the whole Pkg, attitude, looks and size. |

| Definately size..when I first saw an ad for a yorkie it was way over a decade ago. It said they would be 4 lbs and $900. Back then, $900 for me was an unattainable amount, heck it was a car! I couldn't even imagine a 4 pound dog. I always said that someday I would have my dream dog of a yorkshire terrier. I even bought a book on them. Now I have her, she cost more than $900 but weighs less than the 4 pounds I couldn't fathom. She's so full of personality that even under 3 pounds I don't think of her as that small

| I like both large and small yorkies but do think 50 pounds would be just too much. Part of the yorkie personality comes from their small size. My brother has one that weighs about 16 pounds and is a wonderful dog. He is very laid back and a real sweetheart. At 16 pounds he is still a relatively small dog. Mine are all much smaller and all have different personalities as well. Calm or hyper - there is a big difference in a 5 pound dog jumping up and down and running all over the place and a 50 pound dog doing the same thing. Plus the 50 pound one would eat a lot more so couldnt afford all those cute outfits! lol Wouldnt fit in all those cute carriers I have for them either! |

| I Love My Lil' Punkin's Donating Member | Darn! This is a tough one. I didn't even vote because I don't know what to vote FOR! lol. It's hard for me to say...because I DO love Yorkies because they are so tiny...but that isn't the ONLY reason. I also love their looks, and (most LOL) of their personalities. And I can't even IMAGINE my life without Stedman, even if he weighed a HUNDRED pounds!!!! BUT - say for instance when I was looking to buy one, if I ONLY found Yorkies that weighed 50 lbs, LOL....I don't know if I would have bought one or not I LOVE them to pieces - and if Stedman got to that weight I would NEVER in a million years give him up because I have already of course fallen completely IN LOVE with him...he is MY BABY BUT - I did want a smaller dog...one that was easy to carry around and take in the car with us - one that could jump up in my lap on the couch and watch the tube with me...one that could sleep in the bed with the hubbs and I without suffocating us both LOL. So I guess for me, I will say that NO....honestly I would not go out and buy a Yorkie if I KNEW he/she was going to be a larger sized Yorkie (not that there is ANYTHING wrong with the ones who ARE bigger!!) HOWEVER, if I was told that the one I bought was going to be 4lbs and it ended up being 8 (or whatever) I would still love it just the same I personally PREFER the smaller ones - but that doesn't mean that I don't love them ALL!!!

| No I would not own a Yorkie if it weighed 50lbs. I now live in a condo and it would not be fair to the dog IMO. I love terriers because of their attitude and a Yorkie just looked so darn cute to me. The size and personality were perfect so that's why I have Buddy. I have had a 86lb shepard for 17yrs(RIP Pepper) when I was in a house and he had a yard to run all day but a condo just would not be fair. I do have neighbors who have giant sized dogs in their condo. I feel so bad for the dogs. Carol & Buddy |
