That is why on most of the reputable Yorkie rescue's they will not adopt to people with younger children. They cannot take the chance of being sued. I don't know the exact age Thor was taken away from his mom but I got him at 8 weeks and he was in staying with the 'friend' of the breeder and he was the last puppy so I'm guessing it was earlier than 8 weeks. I was very consistant about not biting on my fingers and things, and would give him stern NO's.

You have to be careful not to be teasing them or wrestling too hard with them because it can end up showing it that rough play biting is okay. I had to tell my brother-in-law this. My boyfriend does play very rough with him, but he really doesn't bite hard when they play like this and if he does he get s sharp reminder...it was a bad weekend...Thanks everyone for their input. This is very interesting.

I figured it was the boyfriend. Alot of guys play rough. And the dog biting him might not hurt him because men usually have pretty thick hands. But if he bites someone else the same way it could hurt. I would ask him to stop being rough and maybe find something else to play. Like teaching him tricks or fetching. Maybe that will help. I voted yes. We had had Buckeye for a very little while and was visiting my family for Christmas. (we only had Buckeye at the time). Our grandson was giving grandpa a kiss and Buckeye got jealous... went after my grandson... snapped at him. just a warning nip, not a bite. He was punished for it. Ever since that time I have warned other kids to keep their distance because he may not be happy with them. He has never done it since. He does not like kids, bikes or anyone running. He goes nuts when any kid is running. They do it just to make him bark. Irritates me and I love kids. I feel at that time if the parent don't step in and settle them down..I DO!
