Biters!!!! Has anyone's yorkie ever bitten someone? I'm not talking about the way puppies bite, I'm talking a bite that really was trying to make a point, whatever that might be...Please share your stories. I had an incident this weekend :( It's just so wierd (although I wouldn't have put it past Thor, but other times he can be just the sweetest dog in the world...) |
I voted yes but it's kind of in between. Technically, Riley has bitten someone, but he was just playing. He gets upset when people start wrestling in my house and he wants to play with them too so he grabs onto their feet and one time someone didn't have socks on. OUCH! He wasn't being viscious tho, just playin like a dog. :D |
Chester did...that's why I had to rehome him to a home that didn't have children. Now my dogs now...no, they have not bitten. |
my scrappydoo loves to loved hes not a bitter , :) |
1 Attachment(s) I have never seen my little man even go for someone, never mind bite. Although fingers and hands do appear to be tasty when he plays, but it is only a light fun chew. I voted no, Rat just loves attention to much. He loves everyone, even my neices and nephews. |
Stewie never bit a person, but he attacked a huge female Doberman Pinscher who was walking past my house. |
Bo doesn't care too much for kids that tug on him and will not leave him alone. So he has given the warning bite to quite a few kids. |
These terrior attitudes are something else!! :D |
I read that if a puppy is taken from his mother too early it can have issues with biting too hard. The book said that at around 7 weeks the puppy starts to play bite the mother and the siblings. When the puppy bites the mother too hard she "puts him in his place." So that's how he learns. Brandy was rescued at 5 weeks, and whenever she bit me hard I would sternly say, "NO." Then she would back off. I haven't had an incident with her yet. But she does growl and nip at anyone who comes near me while I have her on my lap. She gets so mad if I try to pet another dog while I'm holding her. |
Hannah, I have 3 rescues of my own that bit other people, children and were turned into either the pound or the humane society to be euthanized. They can never be adopted out. Many of my rescue's will bite as their first reaction to something that scares them. I realize something happended but you are not posting the particulars so if you would like to PM me and tell me the situation maybe I can help. |
nope he just play bites Myself and my boyfriend. If little Kids come up to him if they're not older(usually) he'll run away and act unsure of what to do but that's it. Well then agian he does try to bite the shaver at the groomers. He He he Not to do damage but to attempt to make them stop. |

Oh, I also wanted to add that there's a fine line between wrestling and "teasing." It's easy to rough these little terriers up to where they want to growl and bite if they want something, like your finger. You have to be careful not to be teasing them or wrestling too hard with them because it can end up showing it that rough play biting is okay. I had to tell my brother-in-law this. I'm not accusing you of playing too rough for the little guy btw. Just letting you know that this MIGHT be what's going on. It is their nature to attack anything small that's moving. Good luck. |
