Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Poll: Does your Yorkie bark to get your attention? (Oh, shoot! I screwed up in trying to make a poll! Maybe just reply!) Eddie barks when he wants to alert me of something. Maybe he wants to go outside. Or he's hungry. Or his water bowl is empty. Jillie, however, is silent on those occasions. Oh, she's all Yorkie when it comes to barking at the neighbor dog or the mailman. But for some reason she doesn't bark to alert me of anything. I'm wondering what your dogs do. Are they like Jillie or Eddie?

| Alfie ad Lottie both bark if anyone is approaching the house, and also at the postman. But if Lottie wants anything she just comes out and scratches her little paw at you until she gets what she wants it's adorable so she does get her own way , a lot lol. Alfie just comes up and does the stare, unless he wants out then he just scratches bathe door.

Eddie makes me go to him! He'll bark if he wants to get up on the couch where Jillie will just stand at the base and stare.

| My two past girls were 6 years apart, Schnae the older one would whine at treat time, paw at cabinet dog, carry on until she got her treat, Matese would be silent she would let her sister do all the work, she knew she would reap the benefits of Schnae's hard work. Matese never whined for anything, I thought she didn't know how to whine lol. When Schnae passed away Matese was mourning her loss for 7 months, I would give her treats when I remembered which was not every day. Then it began lol, the whining for treats, Matese was relentless till she got what she wanted, It took her 7 months to figure out if she didn't nag, she didn't get lol. They both barked at just usual things. Now Cody on the other hand, barks, whines sounds like a whale or porpoise if he wants to eat, play, treat, go potty, he is extremely vocal, more the any of my passed girls. I start off with do you have to make pee-pee, no, water, no, treat yes, I never know what he wants lol. I LOVE that he lets me know he wants something, just sometimes nerve wracking trying to find what it is that he wants lol. He barks at sounds only he can hear, and noises I can hear, but not is an excessive barker.

| Mine all have their own way of communicating with me, what they want. Up on furniture/my lap, Lexee grunts repeatidly until I notice she wants up. Most of the others will paw at my legs until I lift them up/put them down. Spinning in circles and barking to go outside.....standing in the entry to the kitchen and snorting/grunting/barking signals food wanted. Ty whines to signal someone has been swimming in the water bowl in the kitchen.....I love all the different ways they "talk" to me....!!! |

| He barks and or whines. If his bowl is empty for food or water he does a whine. If he knows he gets to go with me in the car, he barks for me to hurry up |

| It depends on what she's saying. If someone is here in the driveway, she'll bark. If there are dogs on tv, she'll bark. If she wants to be petted, she'll paw me. If she wants a treat after pottying on her pads, she'll kick her back legs back (like she would outside on grass), and if i dont respond with a treat right away, she'll walk closer to me, and kick her legs back again looking right at me....it's her sign language!
