| ![]() we' ll think tonee has been doing good for a bit, then we will find nice little gifts under a bed, that is her favorite place to go, we have to keep the bedroom doors closed, but the children forget so we have to check under beds everyday. this gets old, i also read that this breed was very hard to potty train, but i did not think it would drag on this long. we finally got our fencing replaced after the hurricanes, and she is starting to do better, she can run around a bit and then has to go. |

| ![]() My first yorkie took me 2 years and I trained her to use the balcony. (I did feel bad for the neighbor but I kept up with it) She would still have lots of accidents though. My husband and I are with the State Dept (We bought her in Vienna) and one day I caught her PEEING on the BACK of the Couch. I could not believe it. It was the second time judging by the other stain. I admit I lost my temper and spanked her and yelled. I felf horrible after but you know what? She never did anything in the house again unless she was sick. She could pee on command. Which is very helpful when you are flying overseas. She was just a sweet and obedient girl.

| ![]() I don't think Stomper would have been trained so quickly if it was not for the doggy door! It made our lives easier. He loves being mocho man going outside on his own!

| ![]() I have two small kennels in the house that I use as litter boxes. I line the inside with a piddle pad and shredded paper. They are small kennels, so I can easily move them from room to room, upstairs and downstairs, which I do to ensure my little guy always has it nearby. I also have a small bag of treats in every room, so that when I see him "go" inside the kennel I can immediately reward him with a treat and lots of praise. He's only 5 months right now, and is not lifting his leg yet, so I haven't started with outdoor training. Just like the male I previously owned, he just doesn't seem to get the whole "outside" thing at this age. We'd go outside and pretty much just stand there looking at each other. He wouldn't do anything, so there was no way for me to praise him, thus letting him know this is where he needs to go. It was pointless. Once he starts marking, I'll start taking him outside, so at least when we are out there there's a better chance he'll "go", enabling me to then reward him and reinforce the behavior. This worked for the male I had before, and seems to be going well with Huck as well. |

| ![]() I think I voted too soon before reading your question. Kiki is fully potty trained and he is 9 months old. He makes a mistake every now and than only because I don't take him out on time. He loves to go outside. I even recently bought the Wiz Dog and he totally ignored it.

| ![]() Buddy was crate trained. I trained him for outside only. By five months he was fully trained. I have heard it can be very hard to train Yorkies so some take longer than others. However he is a larger Yorkie, 13.7lbs so maybe his bladder is larger and it was easier for him. |

| ![]() I can totally understand why they would get confused as to when and where they can go potty. I was going to post this same topic poll. I trained my oldest 2 to go out side. It was really easy to do. but the younger 2, I wanted to try pee pads because of the fact when we had that hurricane last year (not much of one) my older 2 wanted to potty so bad and couldn't go out. I was begging them to potty in side and they wouldn't. switch, huh? I find it is not as easy to pee pad train.

| ![]() my 4month old girl uses pads and goes outside. She is smart enough to know to hold it until we take her outside when we're home...and she's crated at night. But during the day, she goes in pads since we're not home all day. She's really good about holding it for a good 8 hours even though she's under 4lbs. Occasional accidents if we don't take her out on time or let her have free range of the house if we don't walk her prior. I can tell she tries to hold it until she can't anymore then drops the bombs.
