Should the GE have a Cap on Spending?

Have a cap, don't have a cap, baby talk or not, give clue don't give clues and leave the drama at the sign up door. The GE is all about our widdle fur butts not the mommy and daddys and there should never be any Drama when our pups are involved. I believe a change is a coming and very much needed. I for one would appreciate some sort of cap on the spending. Whether it is 50, 60 or 80 there needs to be a change. My hope is that by putting the cap on spending that more members will want too and can afford to join in. I cant imagine a member who wants to join in not doing so because of the money it takes to do so. Lets face it, our babies are all spoiled as it is and for someone to spend an unreasonable amount of money on a pup for the GE is a bit crazy during times like these in todays economy.

I loves the clues portion and got somewhat confused with the baby talk bit, but played along as much as I could.

By the way Heather & Zues'y always gave the best clues

Here's a though: Maybe have 2 GE's sign ups. Have one with no cap and one with. I would really be curious to see how may people sign up !

Maybe we can have a simple rule, there is absolutely no complaining about anything from the GE (i.e. don't like gift, gift too late, no gift at all etc...) not even an inuendo of it or you will be suspended and banned from all future g.e.'s and the thread deleted. That if you have a problem you contact ADMIN and let them handle it. You can bash behind the scenes all you want.

There is at some time or another going to be a rotten egg...its not often but it happens enough that I can remember threads started about it, I can cut and paste links to them if need be, but I think most of you know the threads I'm talking about...they are vicious and mean and serve no real purpose.

I for one know that when life happens YT is not what I'm thinking about. Sure lately I've been on more but thats because I've got Iphone and while things are serious they aren't chaotic serious...I also have a laptop and Iphone and not everyone does. Things have been crazy off and on lately so you can tell when I'm not on that things are happening and I'm not thinking of YT.

I do think a cap is needed and I think that the baby talk should be banned...lmao....I mean optional. I think that the nitpicking of the value of a homemade item etc. ok, ok, a list: ex. provide a list of items and their values ex: home sewn dress: = 20, home made blanket=25 etc., etc.,

More of my ideas: Themes Winter Theme: 1 outfit, 1 accessory, boots etc, A grooming theme: brushes combs, shampoos, bath towels blah, blah, blah... etc., of course these are only ideas!!!

IMO you have nothing to apologize for..these threads have sparked a lot of good ideas and suggestions. How else can we grow and change without new ideas.
I wasn't around for the first GE's, where old members talk about it being fun and simple. I know it will never go back to that way, but I do think it can be made fun again.

Terri, your thread was a great idea, how else would admin and mods know what everyone was thinking and feeling in regards to the GE. Regardless if everyone feels the same or not lots of good points were brought up. With a large group everyone is bound to feel a bit differently from each other that's what makes YT interesting.

Baby talk is already optional. We just need to make sure that more people are aware of that.

Second, I think it would be horrifying to itemize everything you bought with the price paid. That would only encourage competition, IMO and make people very uncomfortable.

Also, once you start limiting actual items in a GE that is supposed to be open and fun, it becomes anything but fun and exciting and too predictable. You can only have so many grooming products.

As for themes, I personally love them. I think they present a fun challenge! But if we do have a theme, I would recommend it be optional. Again, it would be on the restrictive side and Admin and the Mods are too busy to think of a new theme each GE.

I definitely wasn't itemizing anything with the price paid....I was referring to those that hand sew (with love) that a handmade item because so many were referencing how do I put a value on a dress I make? etc...for those who need to be specific.

Conforming to rules is not really hard if they are put out in the right way...its kind of like a treasure hunt really. I belong to other groups where we do things like this, when I get home I will try to find one and post it just for an example. I in no way have an opinion on how it should be done, I'm just throwing stuff out there like everyone else, as for me I will follow the rules when they are set forth...if I join a GE.

I don't know if Ann and Admin are too busy, I think they take in to consideration more than we realize, and in the end they usually/not always make the best decisions, they constantly make changes around here etc.

I, like you, would love a theme type...especially a 1950's...poodle skirt type of theme...maybe a Grease theme? That would be hard not to join!!!
