| ![]() I was told in dog training class that you shouldn't use the word "NO" because you can use it so many times and you shouldn't yell out their name either because they will associate that with bad every time you yell it. I will say "attt attt" very firmly and Starsky knows he is doing wrong. If he gets way out of hand and won't listen, I then use the squirt bottle. I first warn him I am going to get the squirt bottle and sometimes he stops. They are just like kids arent' they?

| ![]() I ask Stewie if he would like to go in "time-out" and he usually stops whatever he is doing, tucks his tail between his legs and lays down and pretends to be asleep. Sometimes I only have to point to his cage and he stops acting up.

| ![]() Good Morning - I First Say A Firm "no" And They Seem To Know What That Means...a Yorkie Is Very Very Smart I Think...then...it Depends How Severe The Problem Is..sometimes I Have To Give A "little" Time Out In The Yorkie Home.. Hope This Helps...you Know All Individual Yorkies Have Their Own Personalities And Need For Discipline...i Think...i Have Two And Have Had 4 Puppies All At One Time In My Life... Sandie |

| ![]() I can not vote as my category is not there. I do not discipline my girl in anyway other then a calm try again. or ahh. She is caught doing and being good an gently redirected if she is thinking or doing something wrong. She could pee in front of me and all she get is an "oh dear clean up". She is a very sensitive girl and anything else stresses her. She is also very well trained and mannered. You do not have to use No or discipline to train. Joy |

| ![]() A firm "No" is all it takes with Reagan. Sometimes even just a "Reagan" in a what in the world are you doing voice works well too. We used to do the time out thing but that was only when she pottied on the floor. And even then it was more for me because there towards the end it was really getting frustrating and it was much easier to put her in her kennel while I cleaned it up and a few minutes afterward so I could calm myself. I do have to say though there was a point where I just quit putting her in her kennel (pretty much out of laziness on my part) for that reason and it seemed like she started having more accidents so in the kennel she went and she started doing better again. I don't know if she was testing me or just didn't receive a punishment so she didn't care if she went inside or not. She's doing great now actually she's housebroken so I don't have to worry about it anymore. I think every dog is different and you just have to find what works best for both of you.

| ![]() Where do I draw the line?My 2 arent even aware there is a line. They do know they are not supposed to potty in the house if that counts, but they seem to have no idea what NO even means. Cookie, treat and bye bye they caught right on to tho. LOL |

| I try to praise them every time I see them doing something good even it's "good sit... good down, etc." If I catch them doing something I don't want them to do, I'll say "AH AH", jiggle the coin bottle, hit fly swatter on counter or table. I try not to say no too much. I praise mostly even when they don't know they're doing something good.
