| How do you keep the beard clean during mealtimes? Esp those that feed raw or canned food. I feed Uni HK, and honestly, I spoon feed her so her beard doesn't get so dirty. She doesn't like her face being wiped down with a wet napkin afterwards, so this is what I do. Hey how do I add a poll question?

| I went to all dry food. I used to give them some canned, but they always made a mess with it and then I read that it was bad for their teeth, a problem I have with Ben. I have now cut Ben's beard fairly short. It is nicer now as he was always getting it all wet. I have started Annie out with a water bottle so she won't have that problem, but Ben doesn't seem to understand the concept, silly boy. I think cutting, wiping, or hand feeding are about the only options when you feed a wet food and want a clean beard. I forgot part of your question: To post a poll, click on Post a new thread like normal, pscroll all the way down to the bottom of that page and it will have an option to post a poll with this thread. Click there and it will get you started. BTW -- that option only comes up if you are the starting a new thread, not on replies.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Pixie is always getting her beard in her mouth when eating her wet food. I have started hand feeding her. Nikki too. My other 2 don't have any problem with it. Sometimes I hold her hair back while she eats. I feed the 3 girls 2 meals of kibble and one of wet. Nikki has no teeth so he eats canned. I am thinking of just giving the girls all kibble.

| This is why I don't like wet food. I have to comb it out afterwards, clean it up with a wipey, and sometimes, I have to wash it. When I do give him something wet, like pumpkin, I spoon feed. It's cleaner that way.

YT Addict | I just let Coco get all up in it and clean it out later. She's not a Yorkie but her beard still get's all gross. Once she's done I take a paper towel with warm water and squirt a tiny, tiny, tiny bit of her shampoo on there and scrub it down. Coco eats reeaaalllllyyyyyy slow so I couldn't hand feed her. She does get dry food , but once in a while she gets Frosty Paws (a dog ice cream which I can't find it online anywhere!) or I put some broth on her food.

| I spoon feed most wet foods, especially yogurt. Kibble can make their beards dirty too. I recently switched from Fromm because the kibble was getting too greasy or oily feeling. |

| Somehow, Gwenni doesn't get any food in her beard. However, drinking water is a huge problem, she's always soaked after wards. I'm interested to see what everyone does.

| I band my show dog's beards and mustaches....they too drink out of water bottles; a twofold reason, keeps the water cleaner and their facial furnishings cleaner.

| All my dogs have short beards so no worries. The show dogs are banded until I can wrap the mustache! I love keeping the mustache wrapped. Radar's is so long now LOL...oh and they drink out of water bowls but again, mustache and beards are kept pretty short so I don't have any of those problems and well the show dogs are wrapped Last edited by Brooklynn; 12-03-2010 at 08:12 AM. |
