I just let Coco get all up in it and clean it out later. She's not a Yorkie but her beard still get's all gross. Once she's done I take a paper towel with warm water and squirt a tiny, tiny, tiny bit of her shampoo on there and scrub it down. Coco eats reeaaalllllyyyyyy slow so I couldn't hand feed her. She does get dry food , but once in a while she gets Frosty Paws (a dog ice cream which I can't find it online anywhere!) or I put some broth on her food.
