Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I personally prefer for mine to be 4 to 6 lbs.Mine are a bit small.Beatrice is barely over 3 lbs and Sebastien is 3.7lbs...although he is only 11 months old.My hope is for him to reach 4.25 lbs. Knowing what I know now, if I was searching for a yorkie I would look for one that would mature around 5 to 5.5lbs. I find we have to be so careful with our "tinies" Beatrice jumped off the couch a year ago and broke her leg. They can't go down the stairs on their own,and when it's cold they don't go outside. However,I would not trade my precious babies for anything.I love them just the way they are |

| Sam weighs between 6-7lbs, right now he is at 6.5. To me he is the perfect size, he fits nicely in my purse and is quiet when we go somewhere (regardless if he is allowed or not). He doesnt get heavy but I also take bathroom breaks more when is with me. I was a nervous wreck when he was a baby. I was so afraid I was going to step on him. I love him just the way he is now, brattiness and all

| Thirty pounds? Although I am sure there were some with Yorkie backgrounds that big in the 1930's just as there are now, I don't think that was ever the norm for what we know as Yorkshire Terriers or their immediate ancestors the Broken Haired Toy Terrier. This is from the Yorkshire Terrier by Joan Gordon: History of the Yorkshire Terrier by Joan Gordon "Yorkshire Terriers were given their breed name by 1874, although it had been around since 1870. Originally they were known and shown as Broken Haired Scotch Terriers or Toy Terrier (rough and broken haired). Broken Haired Toy Terrier Almost all of the classes were divided by weight. The classes were for Broken Haired or Rough Scotch Terriers less than 5 lbs. or 6 lbs. and under; Toy Terriers 4 lbs. and under, or 5 lbs. not exceeding 7 lbs., or 6 lbs. and over; or Blue Scotch Terriers under 7 lbs. or 7 lbs. not exceeding 9 lbs. The largest weight class in which they were reported to have been shown was for Broken Haired Scotch Terrier 9 lbs. not exceeding 12 lbs. This record should prove that although there were larger Yorkshires they were not being shown at the dog shows. The record proves that the small size was available for breeding from early days. " I voted 4-7 pounds for safety sake, but I have to admit -- I would love to have a tiny little "under 3 pounder" as I think they are adorable. I know they have special needs, but I would gladly take on the responsibility. I guess that is why I keep having puppy withdrawal.

| Small, Medium & SUMO Sized! I have the pleasure of 3 Yorkies, Artie was my first Yorkie he's almost 6 yrs. he is 10 1/2 lbs. the "Sumo" sized one compared to Abigail @ 7 lbs. and Pom-Pom who is their Daughter, she's only 4 1/2 lbs. Of course he was'nt always this Big since he is getting older and was "Fixed" at an older age, he's gained alot of weight recently, but IMO he is an ideal weight b/c he is very strong & sturdy and very Healthy! The other 2 b/c they are smaller are more Accident prone, they are Healthy too, but b/c of their size tend to be more Fragile. Especially around Children, Artie is more outgoing towards them compared to the other 2, they get intimidated by their presence alone. For me anything less than 10 lbs. is too small. I kind of wish the AKC. would change the Weight Standard into seperate Weight Catagories? Toy and Standard, or under 5 lbs. and over 5 lbs.? There is definetely a Size difference w/in the Breed. Besides I get tired of People (Fellow Yorkie Owners & Non-Yorkie Owners) asking me if the little one is a "Teacup" and the other 2 are "Standard Sized Yorkies"? Especially since "Teacups" don't exist?

| I love Buddy to pieces but 16lbs is alot of Yorkie. I would prefer 7-9 lbs in the next one. No way would I be comfortable with anything smaller. Even at 16lbs he looks small to me but he's built like a Boston Terrier and is so heavy to carry. Think of carrying 3 5#bags of sugar! Yep, that's heavy |

| Calleigh & Patti Both my Yorkies are small. Calleigh is 4 lbs. and Patti is a 3.5 lbs - so I like them around 4-7 lbs. They are both so cute to me! LB |

| i'm hoping for 5-7 actually. Sadie's 2.5 at about 4 months and can stand to gain another half pound for her age. i hope for not more than 7 because she's easier to carry around but big enough to function normally around the house |

| I have two Yorkies-one is 9 lbs and the other a whopping 19 lbs-variety is the spice of life....the smallest Harley is the main man while Jaxie the larger boy is submissive and acts more like a small dog would-they have made our lives very very interesting....LOL! Harley was very small and would not eat well-so at three months we felt getting another dog would help him -we wanted a "sturdier" dog but boy did we get what we paid for......would not change a thing-we are loved and the boys are great. Personality plus for both of them but they are so unique-absolutely spoiled rotten but healthy and happy. |

| I think the 13 plus is the best only because i have an active household and there is less risk of injury. Tho i thnk it would be neat if Ball stayed the size he is now..about 6 lbs..but being he'll be large he can run and lay with everyone safely. And keep up when we go for walks..he already does quarter mile and I'm more tired then he is. |
