Small, Medium & SUMO Sized! I have the pleasure of 3 Yorkies, Artie was my first Yorkie he's almost 6 yrs.
he is 10 1/2 lbs. the "Sumo" sized one compared to Abigail @ 7 lbs. and Pom-Pom who is their Daughter, she's only 4 1/2 lbs. Of course he was'nt always this Big since he is getting older and was "Fixed" at an older age, he's gained alot of weight recently, but IMO he is an ideal weight b/c he is very strong &
sturdy and very Healthy! The other 2 b/c they are smaller are more Accident
prone, they are Healthy too, but b/c of their size tend to be more Fragile.
Especially around Children, Artie is more outgoing towards them compared to the other 2, they get intimidated by their presence alone. For me anything less than 10 lbs. is too small. I kind of wish the AKC. would change the Weight
Standard into seperate Weight Catagories? Toy and Standard, or under 5 lbs.
and over 5 lbs.? There is definetely a Size difference w/in the Breed. Besides I get tired of People (Fellow Yorkie Owners & Non-Yorkie Owners) asking me if the little one is a "Teacup" and the other 2 are "Standard Sized Yorkies"?
Especially since "Teacups" don't exist?
