I Love Thor Donating Member | Yorkie in a car accident Car accidents happen frequently and I am curious to know, is your yorkie buckled up? And to piggy-back off of that, where does your little boy or girl sit while he/she is in the car? Thor doesn't have a seat belt but I have been thinking about it. I have also been thinking about a booster seat type thing because he wants to be the first to find out what is going on in the car next to us or on the side of the street. He insists on sitting in the drivers seat. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I admit to being reckless but I don't travel too far with mine - IF I was going a long distance they would have to be in a seat of some sort... but for now - I ride with one next to me and one on my lap. They're angels in the car - they just lay next to each other and make-out...every time I look down they're kissing each other -with the occasional kiss for me at the lights. |

| This is a subject that has been on my mind quite a bit lately... We thus far have been reckless! Teddy always sits on my lap or lays in the elbow of my arm that rests on the car arm rest. Last week though he did something that caused me a lot of concern and while it is in no way his fault I know it's time to rethink where he rides in the car. He jumped up in my face and started planting huge kisses on me in an almost smothering affect and I honestly couldn't see anything. I love the fact that he loves me as much as I do him but for the first time I saw danger in how we travel so we are looking into a car seat to keep him, myself and the rest of the people on the road safe

| I never really took great concern in this subject. But I really don't keep Jeremiah and my other dogs in car seats because my other people hold them securely for me...and so I really haven't thought of it as much...Even though some Florida drivers are crazy. But I would be worried or better yet terrified if Jeremiah...Jane or Buddy for that matter got hurt in a car accident.

| I don't like admitting this, but Bell sits in my lap when I drive. But I don't take her too often nor too far, beause Bell gets car sick sometimes.

| Her carrier has shoulder lenght straps and I just hook them over the car seat head rest. This way she is secure and she gets to look out the window. |

| Both of mine have car seats and they ride in the back, buckled up at all times! They don't always love it but I think it is safer for me and them. |

| We've only had Guy since June, so he hasn't had a lot of car rides yet. I have to admit that he sits in our laps when we take him somewhere. I think that's going to have to change, though. I'm not only worried about what would happen to him if we had a serious accident, but also what the airbags could do to him in a minor fender-bender. I never let my two children ride unrestrained or in the front seat, so I really shouldn't allow our little furry "child" to do it either! |

| I always have my girls carriers buckled up. I buckle up my son and wear a seat belt and my girls life is just as important as ours. The devil NEVER sleeps and you could be a block from your house and have a car accident and if the fur babies aren't buckled up they could fly and hit their head on anything in the car and a hit like that is all it takes to kill our babies. I have to admit I would love for them to ride on my lap but I am just too scared to take a chance!!! Smiles, Myra |

| I bought a nice large cushy carseat and it has been my best purchase ever. I can buckle two yorkies in it and they are comfortable. It has a water and food dish attached to the front for long rides so they are always comfortable. |

| Loki stays in his car seat. I got it at Petsmart for $20 and it's in the back seat. I think it is meant for the front seat, but our SUV has headrests on the split bench in the back and it works fine there. http://www.kyjen.com/pettravelgear/p...luxepetlookout He loves it because he can see out or curl up and sleep. He just likes to be in the car with us and not stuck home alone. I admit I have taken him out on long trips (2+ hours) - I sit next to him and let him sit on the back seat next to me. |

| My sister works for an insurance company, my brother-in-law is a lawyer plus I have other brothers-in-law that have firemen and police in their families, so I hear so many horror stories. I have a car seat for the back seat when we travel on main highways and a console carseat (which Gus prefers) when I am close to home only going about 35 miles an hour. Gus would like to ride on my lap but just the thought of what an airbag could do - it is not worth the risk.

| Stewie has a car seat. I'm pretty sure that if the airbag deployed, it would hurt him though. Maybe I need a new one that goes in the backset?

| Our two babies go wherever we go on vacation. Our two babies...Cleo & Ceasar travel with us wherever we go on vacation. They've been with us to Yosemite, Utah (Bryce, zion, Arches), Oregon, Seattle, etc. We have a supercrew truck and the backseats are folded down and covered with a thick blanket. They have their bed, toys, and a pee pad(just in case they can't hold it anymore till we make a stop at the rest areas)...but they don't really use it they'd rather wait and go potty on the rest areas. They travel pretty good and don't get car sick...but you are right my husband and I should think about making it safer for all of us when we travel. But what would we get to make them safe and make them feel free at the saem time...because they got so used to this set up and they might not like a new restrained set-up. Can anybody make a suggestion?Of course we want to make them safe at all times...they are our kids and we wouldn't want them to get hurt. |
