| I wasn't going to admit this, but since this thread is still floating around, I had to try a dress on Gus today. Since Gus is so tiny, I had to make sure the dress would fit a sertin little girl. And I am happy to say that not only did it fit, he looked so cute in it. My husband wasnt too happy about Gus trying it on,,,,,, so I didn't have the heart to try in the bow as well. Now I want a little girl more then ever!

| No I would not buy anything pink for a boy. Red and purple are fine.

| Pink used to be for boys, not girls I wouldn't buy pink for a boy anything, but here's an interesting note. In a history of costume course I took one time online I read that in early Victorian times and before baby girls wore blue and boys wore pink. Because pink is really a light red and red is a very powerful color, pink was not considered appropriate for baby girls. However, off the top of my head I can think of several later Victorian paintings and fashion plates showing little girls in red coats and older little girls in red dresses. So it must have been relatively fluid even then. Obviously it's all a matter of cultural conditioning. |

| Husbands and pink, etc. I was reading further down in this thread and had a funny memory. It's weird how men take slights to a DOG's masculinity personally! Thirty years ago we had our first dog together. He was a little boy mutt, cute as could be. I wanted to have him neutered for all the proper reasons, but my (then) young husband was horrified. He said, "What, am I next!?!" I'm happy to report that subsequent dogs were neutered without incident. But that first dog retained his "powers" until old age and illness caused them to fade away. HOWEVER, I'm glad my Yorkie is a girl. I think my (now) much older husband would still have a hard time with bows, etc., especially pink anything. And I want bows and all sorts of cuteness really badly! We had one child, a boy (now a young man) and all male dogs up to now. I'm so thrilled to have a fluffy little girl puppy! I finally get to get silly. |
