My pup keeps a collar with a tag on at all times and wears a harness for walks. She has a microchip and I have never heard of it being lonked to cancer.

thanks for all the responses everyone!

we currently only use harnesses with id on it when we leave the house.. and if i leave Avie at my mom's i will leave her harness(with id) on all the time! i've been debating getting a collar with tags for a little bit now.. but i have always heard many people say they don't like to leave a collar on.. so im thinking maybe a breakaway collar?? Avery is about 5.5lbs and we are bringing home our newest addition(another little girl) this week! yay!

but she is going to stay very little.. and im afraid of the trachea issues.. etc. anymore input would be great! but also if anyone has found a good place to find breakaway collars(or just good collars, in general, for our babies) i would love to hear!

It is interesting to read all of the replies and the different ways each of us have to take care of our furbutts. My dogs never ever wear collars and only wear harnesses when they are out for a walk.

That's what I do. Bud has never had anything around his neck and is never
out of my sight for a second.

Same here - Izzy is microchipped and only wears her tags on her harness when we go out. Maybe after reading this thread I may rethink that and use a breakaway collar but not sure yet.

I only put on a collar and harness for walks, dog parks, etc. The collar has the ID tags and the harness is used for the leash.

I brush mine alot so a collar would get in the way. Besides I'm home all the time so they don't really need it.

We have to have a collar with tags, if Tucker got away without tags we wouldn't get him back. Since he is ...ahem...a larger yorkie we don't have to worry about the collar.

teddy wears a collar with a bell...i've never had such a small dog before! when he takes off running in my house, he hides behind and underneath things! the bell helps me find him to make sure he's safe!

when i take him for a walk, i have him put on a harness...well, he doesn't put it on, i put it on for him. lol!
